the last five or six weeks of school for the year, are always hectic and stressful but you can never say no to the schools boys soccer teams big game, right? especially when your three new friends are in the team.

"mae, c'mon we need to be there early!" giovanna whined, banging the door of the room that her friend was currently in. "just a second gio," maeve called back making giovanna huff.

"ok. ta-da!" maeve came out of the room twirling around. 

"oh my gosh, cute jeans! might 'borrow' them some time," giovanna winked. the two chattered in the car until they finally arrived at the fields. noah, jimmy and bruno walked up towards their girl best friends, "hey ladies," jimmy smiled pulling the two in for a side hug. after a few minutes of chatting, the boys were called to warm up, that's when maeve spotted the familiar brown eyes staring right at her. 

"let's get a seat?" giovanna quietly asked as she followed maeves worried eyes. maeve nodded in response and followed the blonde.

it was half time and remedy was lazily drinking her water while harley and giovanna got to know each other, until yells broke all three out of their trances. "guys, what's happening?" giovanna's worried tone quivered, "let's go find out," harley sucked in a breath before marching towards the commotion, the other girls following behind.

the girls gasped as they saw the sight of louis partridge punching bruno burrows, the rest of the team was busy separating the two. maeve could hear some muffled words that they were throwing at each other, something like; "dude, i don't like her like that!" and "well then why are you always with her?" 

yells were thrown back and forth until the referee came over and blared his whistle loud enough so everyone would quieten down. "they're fighting because of you, maeve." a random girl maeve didn't know the name of scoffed and shoved maeve. 

louis and bruno quickly turned at the mention of her name, both their eyes softening. she inspected both boys faces, louis had a cut on his lip and his nose was bleeding, but bruno was slightly worse. partridge was about to say something but maeve shook her head. the remedy girl felt an anxiety attack coming on so she bid harley and giovanna goodbye and sprinted off to her car and drove.

it had been almost an hour of pointlessly wasting fuel by driving around but maeve couldn't care less. she needed to get her mind off things. finally she stopped at the mcdonald's drive-through for nuggets, a chocolate shake and fries. 

once again she drove off, she wasn't crying, she was just annoyed and disappointed in her friend, louis and even herself. she drove towards her quiet spot, grabbed her soft blanket she used as a mat and grabbed her food, she walked up the small hill and lay the blanket down. 

maeve enjoyed moments like these, where it was just her and the sound of nature. she watched the sunset and finished her foot quietly until she heard footsteps approaching. 

remedy whipped her head towards the sound and saw harley. maeve went to question her friend but stopped when harley spoke, "snap maps." maeve snorted and shoved her remaining milkshake towards harley who happily sipped from it. 

"louis' an idiot," harley gently spoke, not wanting to push any boundaries with her already upset friend. "i thought we figured that out at prom," maeve replied smiling making harley laugh too. "i'm an idiot too. i'm sorry for not being able to hang with you for the past couple of weeks," monico looked at her hands, maeve smiled softly. "it's not your fault lee, we all have things to deal with or do. i'm just glad we're still friends," remedy shrugged, "not friends, besties," monico winked.

maeve and harley spoke for hours, reminiscing in only memories. at eleven at night maeve arrived home to see an impatient jack and an annoyed finn. "hi?" she chuckled at the two of them, "where were you?" jack sternly spoke, maeve's eyes widened in surprise and amusement. "woah there father jack, what do you mean?" remedy tried making a joke.

"he means, you told us the game ended at seven so we expected you at, at least eight! we've waited three hours for you maeve. we called and you didn't pick up or answer any texts, do you know how worried we were? we were going to call the police!" finn rose his voice slightly, taking maeve aback. "well technically the police wouldn't help unless i'd be gone for more than twenty four-" 

"okay smartass. we don't care! that's besides the god damned point. where were you?!" jack interrupted making maeve taken aback once again. "woah, i really gave you're old hearts a heart attack, huh?" remedy tried joking around to not show them she was afraid of their loud voices. "shut up, maeve!" jack and finn yelled loudly, making maeve wince and tears pool in her eyes. 

she dropped her head and took a breath in, trying to calm her ready-to-cry self. "sorry. i didn't think it would end up this bad. i-i was at the beach." finn rolled his eyes while jack laughed bitterly, not even seeming like they cared that they almost made their sister cry. "what were you doing at the beach, exactly?" jack pushed, maeve averted her eyes towards the roof in hopes that it would stop her from being the crybaby she is. 

"thinking." she softly said.

"about what?" finn then pushed her to answer. maeve let out a shaky breath looking both boys in the eyes, they really were dead serious. "can you just not? i'm tired and i need sleep," maeve stumbled away from them, while she was still in their sight, a tear rolled down her cheek making them immediately feel guilty. 

remedy mentally cursed herself before bolting up the stairs and into her room where she slid down the door placing her face in her hand. "bloody hell maeve."

finn and jack let her cool down for an hour before going upstairs to her room, only to see her asleep in the middle of the floor. jack laughed and picked her up, making her squirm before relaxing in the comfort of her bed. 

"goodnight peanut, i love you. and i'm sorry," grazer sighed kissing his little sisters head. finn came up to the bed and kissed her hair, "you're a strong, stubborn peanut, i love you and i'm sorry."
