Chapter 1: Xander
I gave myself over to the night. I felt the wind in my fur, the ground beneath my feet. I loved it. I pushed myself harder, faster, and smoother. My paws beat on the earth in time with my heart. I wanted to run until no one could see me. I needed to be so fast and light no one could hear me. I needed to become a shadow. This was my own personal hell training. My family and friends thought I was out running to clear my head. I liked it that way. They didn't need to know I am afraid that I'm too weak to be Alpha. I don't like being afraid. So to conquer my fear I have been training to do something that has not been done since we became to be. I am making my magic and wolf one. Most, no, scratch that all of my kind has kept their wolf and magic separate. I didn't understand this. So I started willing my wolf and magic together while controlling them. My magic was very close to becoming one with my wolf. My magic is elemental as well as telekinesis. I can move objects and beings while in wolf. I can call upon my fire to cover my body like a cover. I can pull wind around me like a hurricane. Water can swirl around my limbs and body. I can cake my wolf in earth. I am the biggest threat to any enemy I might come across.
"X where you at, it's almost dinner time." My best friend and Cousin Clark spoke through our mind link.
"Just finishing up my run, I will be home about twenty minutes." I spoke back through my mind. I pull my magic back and dash through the trees back to my home. We live on the outskirts of a small town named Marksville in Montana. I shift back to human as I walk out of the trees. Yes I am naked but it doesn't bother me. I walk in the house and run into my mother.
"Xander what did I tell you about not having clothes in the woods?" I put my head down sheepish.
"To always be prepared because I never know when I might have to shift in public." She smacks me upside my head.
"If you have the knowledge then use it. Go up the back stairs and get dress. Dinner will be ready in 10 minutes. Not 12, 15, or 30! 10!" I nod my head and run up stairs to get dress. My mom is a time freak. When she gives a specific time she means business. I throw on some boxers and basketball shorts with a sports bra and beater. I can't wait to take a shower. I walk out my room to run into my little brother.
"Hey short-stop, what's new that you can do?"
"Hey big boy, what's nice in your life?" I pick him up as we make our way to dinner. We walk in the dining room and take our seats.
"Xander."
"Huh dad."
"Are you ready for you first day of 11th grade?"
"Yeah I guess. I mean I'm pretty sure it will be the same as last year. I doubt anything new will happen." My dad laughs.
"When I was in school it was always something new. Keep your mind open you might be surprised what will enter." I looked at my dad like he was crazy. I suppose he knew something I didn't. I just brushed it off. I mean we live in a town not city with like 1000 people for the population. What could happen this year that didn't last year?
NEXT MORNING AT SCHOOL
I pulled into the parking lot in my 2013 Ranger Rover. Yes she is my mistress. My parents got it for me as a going back to school present. Weird right? Yeah I thought so too but I wasn't gonna tell them that. I step out in my black and grey Levis jeans with the shirt jacket to match and some black and grey air maxes. I was looking good for the first day of school. Well to everyone else I was. I dress like this every day so to me it was nothing new. I grabbed my book bag.
