The two paired missiles had not deviated from their path, and they still were on target. They had not yet automatically activated their tandem systems that would eradicate all life on the planet's surface, as they had just crossed the halfway point between Jupiter and Earth. It would be another full fifteen to twenty minutes local time before the first would reach its goal. Which was unfortunate, as the first Shard's awakening was imminent.
