I woke up and yawned in the early morning light. Summer had officially started three weeks ago, and I could hardly wait for it to be over. I had already had a fight with Ron, so he wasn't speaking to me. Fred and George had pulled a prank on me and I had to stay in bed all day- so I wasn't speaking to them. Lastly, Mum had been acting weird, she hardly spoke to me anymore, and she looked at me odd all the time. I didn't understand why she kept looking at me weird, but I would figure it out soon. Today it was just me, Mum, and Hermione lounging around the house. I could ask for Hermione's help in figuring it out.
After getting dressed for the day I walked downstairs to the kitchen and saw Hermione sitting at the table, sipping on coffee.
"Hey 'Mione."
She whipped her head around at the sound of my voice. Once she realized who it was she grinned.
"Hey Gin."
We had both agreed that my nickname sucked, so we kept it. I sat down beside her and she slid a coffee my way. I chuckled at that- Hermione knew me so well.
"So, what do you want to do today?" I asked her. Her face immediately lit up, "I was hoping we could- "
Hermione was cut off by Mum walking in. She smiled at us sweetly, "I hope you two didn't have anything planned? " She knew she had walked in on us planning as soon as Hermione's grin fell off her face. I sighed into my coffee and plastered on a smile.
"We were just coming to see if you needed help with anything today."
She gave us a look."I was hoping we could tidy up the entire house today."I felt Hermione's breath on the back of my hand as she sighed in defeat.
"We have all day, don't we?" Mum replied in response to the brunette's sigh.
Mum kept us separated as much as possible. Once, I took a moment to catch my breath, after chasing gnomes and Hermione was there. I wasn't even able to finish my "Hi" before Mum appeared out of nowhere and asked for my help. It felt like Bill and Fleur's wedding all over again.
Mum had been acting agitated all day. When she saw me her eyes would go wide, then she would try to hide it. She was barely speaking to me, save for instructions.
After the house had been scrubbed clean, our evening meal eaten, and some small talk, I was finally getting ready for bed.
I hadn't had time to talk to Hermione today, so I wasn't any farther on the weird Mum problem. I had just put on my nightclothes and was getting under the covers when Mum walked in.
"Ginny, dear, can we talk for a moment?"
I was immediately suspicious. She ignores me all day, and then she suddenly wants to talk? I wanted to question it but instead all I did was reply, "Sure. What about?"
She sighed and walked over to my bed. I sat down atop the covers and Mum followed suit. The bed dipped down as she sat beside me.
I heard her sigh again, and looked to her face to see what was troubling her. I was usually really good at reading people, but all I saw on my mothers face was regret.
She looked to me,"I don't have the words to make you understand, and this will be incredibly hard to accept. I understand that you may not want anything to do with me after this, but-" I cut her off.
"Mum, whatever you want to say, just say it! I'm sure I'll understand."
She looked at me precariously.
"You're a Malfoy."----------------—————---------———————
Sry for the short chap. I promise they'll be longer in the future.
(Edit) Jeez, I am so sorry if the explanation in the first few chapter is hard to understand. I mean, I know what I'm trying to say, but I don't think younger me knew how to write it.
