The war "really" started on January 23ed 2021, the start of a new year, a fresh start. It is a nice morning the first day of a new semester and I am excited.
As I walked through the big white doorway of my school the butterflies in my stomach were fluttering, I can't contain my excitement.
Walking beside me was my best friend Samatha who wouldn't stop talking. Samatha was happy she got the house all to herself and she was rambling or something.
She said "Cortney we should have a sleepover tonight at my house, we can stay up really late too since my parents went out of town, you know they wanted me to come too but Josh asked me to go to the new semester dance with him, awesome right?
You know it was kind of weird my dad was begging me to go with them he even said he would ground me if I didn't go, but you can't ground someone who is 100 miles away from you, right Cortney ?!"
All I could say to that was Yes Samatha yes you can't ground someone who is 100 miles away from you, but if we're late on the first day of a new semester a phone call can go a long way.
After I said that she started to head for our classroom. Samatha can be a handful but she really is my best friend for putting up with me, I am more of a handful than she is.
I remember last year it was ice-cream day at school and I love ice- cream I could marry it if I could, anyway, it was ice-cream day and this imbecile came and stole my ice- cream and everyone who knows me knows not to touch my ice- cream, long story short I got suspended and the kid ended up in the hospital for a few weeks.
Samatha found our classroom while I was thinking about ice-cream we walked inside and took two seats in the second row.
The morning was going well actually it was going amazingly I got pancakes for breakfast, I didn't miss the bus, and I will get to have a sleepover with Samatha afterschool, but all is calm before a storm.
Around 10 o'clock the announcements went off and a woman that sounded like she was in her mid-40's sounded scared she said" CODE RED THIS IS NOT A" then got cut off.
The teacher quickly ran and turned off the lights and I grabbed Samatha's hand, and we hid with the rest of the class under a long table at the back of the classroom.
For those of you who don't know code red means that there is an intruder in the building.
For the first time, it seems like my class was taking the code red seriously maybe it was the fact that the announcements got cut off it was scary like the intruders did it, but I was probably thinking too much.
We were hiding for about 10 minutes till we heard a gunshot, when I heard it things turned real, real quick.
Then the handle to the classroom door fell, I knew what happened when I heard the doorknob fall the intruder must've shot the door and thus causing the nob to fall from both sides.
The door opened and the lights turned on, everyone was scared when I mean everyone, I mean everyone including Samatha.
My goodness Samatha was holding on to me so tight I wished I had CIPA. CIPA is Congenital insensitivity to pain basically means I can't feel anything, but this was not the case.
I heard a boy's voice he said cover the entrance and make sure nobody disturbs us. From the view of under a table, I saw underdeveloped feet come towards us.
The teacher went toward the underdeveloped feet and was saying what are you doing, and we don't have money.
Ultimately, she was in the way of the underdeveloped feet' goal, a boy's voice said shoot, and then the teacher was on the ground and bleeding.
Let me tell you one thing the teacher was nice, and she didn't have to die and my passion for justice and righteousness was just about to boil out of me, but my fear was holding me back.
(Good Job fear) The boys' voice said get out from under the table. His voice was serious and clear. Everyone did as we were told because we didn't want to end up like our teacher.
For financial reasons I don't have a phone I was praying that while we were under that table that my classmates weren't dilly-dallying and were calling for help there always on their phones so maybe they can finally put it to good use.
When we came out from under the table, I was surprised that an actual boy was standing in front of me I thought I was going hysterical from the fear.
The boy reached for his pocket and pulled out a paper he looked at it then looked at us, honestly, I don't know what this kid is playing at, I hope he knows that Samarha's dad is a government official so if he tries anything her dad will make sure that he will never see the light of day again. After the quite cute looking boy.... wait what.
After the kid looked at his paper, he pointed to Samatha. At that moment, my heart started pounding through my chest, Samatha is like my sister.
I held on to her hand tight. Two men grabbed her and pulled her away from the class. They brought her to her knees and restrained her.
The boy reached in his pocket, for a second I thought he was getting another paper, but he pulled out a gun. Then he held it to her head. At that very moment, my hands swelled up into fists and my heart pounding could be heard by the world.
I took a step forward, when the men saw this they said if I took another step, they would shoot me, but I know that if I don't stop moving, they won't get a hit on me.
I had to do it for Samatha because she is the only family I had (I am an Orphan) So I started moving in random movements so they can't be predicted I just imaged that those guys were taking my ice-cream and they were out in a second nobody touches my ice-cream especially if it has Samatha on top.
I was doing well and for some reason, the kid wouldn't kill Samatha not that I wanted him to kill her, I was so close to reaching the kid but then this tall fine-looking gentleman came out of nowhere and beat up, a 14-year-old, I hope he is proud of himself.
I was brought to my knees too, as I looked up at the kid chills fell through my spine.
The boy said intriguing I guess I got to keep this one alive. My gut finally kicked in, it was now saying run, I wish my gut told me that before the boy had his eye on me, thanks a lot.
Samatha was crying, but I was trying not to look at her in the eyes I knew that I couldn't hold, myself together if I look at her eyes.
The kid said your father took away something I love very much now I must take something away from him.
The boy put his gun back in his pocket and one of his henchmen or whatever took a gun a pointed it at her head.
I was still avoiding her eyes and as I finally look at her face and Samatha's eyes there was no life in it.
The henchman pulled the trigger and killed her, I knew it was not the time to cry, the boy looked at me with a cute and creepy grin, then he said put her to sleep.
I struggled and I fought the next thing I know I was injected with something and the world went black.
He killed my best friend this meant war, if you mess with my ice-cream, I will put you in the hospital, if you mess with my friend, I'll make your grave.
