JAYCE POV

It's been a full week since I last saw Amelia at her apartment. Apart from a few texting conversations here and there, we haven't spoken. She seems very busy – pre-occupied with something – and it's consumed all her attention, much to my dismay.

I wish I could've returned to her apartment, continued our boxing training even if my lack of skill was extremely bruising to the ego. I wish we could talk or hang out more. I have grown addicted to her company.

She's such a contradiction. She's so unbelievably full of emotion, I just know it, and yet she never appears to feel anything at all. At least, not to anyone else.

She has all of this unworldly skill, able to box with strength men double her size don't possess. She can take someone down in seconds – I can still feel the blow from the time I spooked her on a run. She is obviously gifted in fighting.

I would expect her to be bouncing off the walls and releasing bursts of energy and aggression from all that combat potential, and yet she is at all times, still and seemingly unmovable.

Not to mention the fact she's been apparently stalking me from the trees before we even met. I should definitely be more concerned about that then I am.

I just can't figure her out.

She's got me caught hook, line and sinker.

I'm knocked from my thoughts when I hear a knock. A moment later my father opens the door, immediately souring my mood, and demanding I get ready.

Fuck, I forgot I had that stupid event tonight.

I jump out of my bed and straight into the shower. Once done, I exit, ruffling my hair with a towel then wrapping it around my waist.

I for a moment, look longingly out the window, hoping for a vision of ginger hair but instead I only see the green of trees. Disappointed, I sigh and continue getting ready.

I hate tuxes. I really, really do. The tie feels like it's choking me, the shirt is too tight since I didn't listen to my mum and buy a new one. I can't believe I have to go to this probably mind numbingly boring event just because my father wants me to.

Whatever this place Iam going to is, I am already uninterested.
