Chapter 2~ Another set of twins?

Shadow's pov.

We had started school and for the most part Mephisto had left us alone. Well as alone as he can, he was trying the whole get to know you by annoying you thing. I personally hated it but Light he was falling for this trick. It was only the first day of school and already I felt like it was the end of the world. The speech was alright, the kid giving it was a little odd and maybe he was a little stuck up. The only cool thing about him was the glasses he had on and the no nonsense attitude. Light and I were side by side and we walk out of the auditorium before heading to our first class. A kid with this red thin thing was on his back and he interested me a lot. Not sure why that was but I felt this weird connection with him for some reason. I didn't give him much thought after that and when we were heading to the lunch room. The smell in the room swims around us and I take a deep breath before giving a small sigh. "So what do you want to eat? We don't really have to worry about the cost." Light says and I frown a little, I wasn't to happy with the thought of Mephisto paying for all our food but on the other hand the clown needed to pay for missing out on our life.

"I don't know." I whisper. Normally I was really out going when I was alone with my brother but there were way to many new people around for me to feel comfortable acting like normal. "Hey cheer up little sister. Things will get better soon. For now just be yourself and please for me smile." Light says and I give a small sigh. My brother just doesn't get me sometimes, we may be twins but he didn't understand my different feelings. Guess that comes with being a girl and having emotions or whatever. "Yeah ok so how about French food?" I say giving him a big smile and he nods before taking my hand. We walk over and order our food and when they asked for money all we did was show them this badge thing that Mephisto had given us the night before. The chef looked shocked but hands us our food anyways before giving us a strained smile. I glance over at Light who was carrying our food and he just shrugs before we walk over to a table and sit down. "Let's dig in." Light says as he sets my food in front of me and sits across from me.

I take a small bite and smile widely at the flavor of things. "This is great." I say and Light nods his head. He was taking bigger bites of his food before pausing to look over mine. I wasn't eating as fast as him. "Try a bite of this." He says as he pushes his plate twords me. I give a small sigh before taking a bite of his food just to make him happy. It was good but not something I would get for myself. Light always had liked when mom cooked Italen food. As for me I preferred the more traditional thing, give me a nice big bowl of ramen any day and I would be the happiest girl around. "What do you think?" He asks with hope in his voice. "It's alright I guess. You know me Light. I would rather have ramen or miso any day over this fancy stuff." I say before I go back to eating my food. I was really in the mood for miso soup. We finish eating before heading to class. When the day was over Mephisto walks over to us a happy smile on his face. "You two are going to take some extra classes. Follow me." He says and I scowl at him. I really wasn't in the mood for this and just wanted to go back to our dorm and take a cat nap.

"Hurry up you two. I need to get someone else before class starts." He says and my scowl gets deeper. Light just had a happy smile on his face and I shake my head at him. He would do just about anything to please our dad. I believed it a waste of time until he proved himself to me. If this clown really wanted me to suck up to him and act the perfect daughter then he was going to have to prove that he was worth being my dad. I was hardly paying attention to where we were going so when Light pulls me to a stop I give him an annoyed glare. "At least try to pay attention to what he is saying." Light whispers in my ear and I roll my eyes a little before pushing him away from me. Mephisto was watching us carefully as if he was trying to figure something out. "Right follow me. Shadow this is yours and Light for you." He says as he hands us both little keys. I give him and it a questioning look. "You two are going to become exorcist." He says happily and I scowl at him. "Not happening." I say as I hand him back the key and turn to walk away. "You want to know who killed your mother don't you? Take this class and you will find out." He says and I turn to see the half amused look on his face. If anything I could tell that he at least cared about mom. "I'm only doing this for mom." I snap as I take the key from him once again. He shows us how to get to the secret class room before leaving us standing outside it.
