Madelyn woke up to a vase of Roses on her side table with a little note that read:

Madelyn, I am sorry about my behavior last night.
You don't need to come to work today.
Take the day off and go have fun.
Taylor will be by your side all day for your every need.
I'll be home for lunch
Christian

She smiled down at the note. Then, she remembered the secret room and squinted. Roses and the day off already? He must be hiding bodies in there or something. She shook her head, laughing at the ridiculous thought.
She got up, leaving the little note on her bed. She walked into the kitchen area to find Annie raiding the fridge while a woman in a cooking uniform stood beside her. Madelyn leaned on the counter. "What's going on here?"
Annie turned and looked at Madelyn. "I just want a normal breakfast, but Miss Stubborn over here wants to make me some fancy breakfast." She stuck her head back in the fridge and looked at the cook. "Can you just make waffles? Since you people don't seem to know what cereal is."
The cook opened one of the many cupboards that showed many kinds of granola. "There is some right here."
Annie squinted at her. "I said cereal. Not granola!"
Madelyn laughed. "Taylor can take us to McDonald's for breakfast if you'd like."
Annie gasped. "Yes, please!"
Madelyn got off the counter and grabbed Annie's hand. "Go take a shower and get dressed. I will meet you downstairs in a half an hour, okay?"
Annie nodded, hugging her and running to her room. Madelyn laughed at the squeals that erupted from Annie as she slammed her door shut. Madelyn ran into her room, slipping on her dress and running out of her room to see Taylor. She paused in her tracks, smiling awkwardly. "Taylor. Could you wait downstairs for us? We should be down shortly."
Taylor nodded. "Yes, ma'am." Madelyn raised her eyebrows at him. "May I call you Miss Young instead of Maddie? It makes me more comfortable." She nodded. He smiled once more and walked towards the elevator, leaving her alone in the empty space.
She ran over to the door she had found yesterday. She opened it and stumbled up the staircase. She reached the door and took a deep breath, afraid of what was behind it. It had to be bad. Why else would he be hiding it from everyone?
She grabbed the handle and pulled on it. It was locked. She groaned. "Goddammit, Grey!" She pulled her hand through her hair, feeling the bobby pin that held her hair back. She smiled and pulled it out, bending it. She had done this a million times, she could do it, again. She used the bobby pin in the lock, twisting it around until is finally unlocked the door.
She smiled to herself, feeling accomplished. She opened the door, slowly stepping inside. "What the-" She slowly walked over to the bed across the room, crossing her arms. She felt uncomfortable. What the hell is this? She looked around the room at all the different instruments it possessed. She couldn't even bring herself to look at everything. It was too... Disturbing. She looked down, turning and walking out. She locked the door behind her and just sat there, staring at the stairs for a moment. What did I just get myself into?
She ran down the stairs and ran over to Annie's room. She knocked on the door. "Annie? You ready to go?"
Annie opened the door, a wide grin on her face. "Let's go!" She bolted towards the elevator, Madelyn slinking along behind her. She was trying to act normal, but after what she just found, how could she?

After McDonald's, Annie and Madelyn got in the town car and Taylor drove them back to their building. The whole time they had been gone, Madelyn was trying to think of a way to ask Christian about the room. She knew he was going to get pissed. He had told her not to go in there and yet, she still did. When they got to the building, she stopped Annie from getting out of the car. She looked at the rear view mirror. "Taylor? Could you take Annie out to dinner tonight and maybe take her shopping? Right now?"
Taylor nodded. "Yes, ma'am. But may I ask why?" He smiled at Annie through the mirror. "Not that I don't love spending time with Miss Annie."
Madelyn smiled at his comment. It was good that everyone was getting along with Annie. She needed people in her life. "Me and Mr.Grey need some time to talk."
"Oh?" His eyebrows shot up as his lips formed into a small smile. It was if he thought there wasn't actually going to be any talking going on. Boy, was he wrong.
"I found his room," she said, flatly.
His eyes widened slightly, his little smile fading. "Oh. We will leave right away." He looked at Annie through the mirror, again. "Ready to shop until you can't walk anymore?"
Annie squealed and nodded. Madelyn hugged her. "I will see you later tonight, Annie."
Madelyn hopped out of the car and watched them pull away. She took a deep breath and walked into the building. She knew Christian would be waiting for her upstairs and she was really nervous to face him.
When the elevator stopped, she felt her heart beating faster. She saw him standing in the main room. He turned to her and he was smiling. He looked like that young boy, again. She couldn't help but smile back. She loved seeing him like this. He ran up to her and she could see a shadow on his face and she wondered what he would look like with facial hair. He had always had a clean shave.
He grabbed her hand and dragged her to the kitchen. "I have to show you something." He opened up the fridge to reveal a video camera cake sitting inside. "Isn't it awesome? I think she's going to love it."
Madelyn turned to him, slightly confused. "Huh?"
He closed the fridge and sat at the table with her where lunch had been set out for them. "Tomorrow is Annie's sixteenth birthday."
She stared at the plate of food before her. She felt sick after seeing his secret room and she wasn't sure she could eat. "How do you know that?"
He took a bite of the salad sitting before him. "I went to see her adoptive parents today. I got them to sign the emancipation papers. It took a little persuading for the mother to sign, but the father was happy that she was getting a chance to be happy."
She took a small bite of her salad. "That's sweet of you. I didn't know you were going to do that today."
"Well, I had someone I know look up information on Annie yesterday. When I found out tomorrow is her birthday, I thought her emancipation being official would be a great gift for her."
Madelyn smiled. "That's really amazing, Christian. She's going to be so happy."
He shook his head. "But that isn't all. There is another gift being processed right now. It should be delivered tomorrow."
Please don't tell me you got her handcuffs or something. "She's going to be very excited." Her tone was flat.
Christian could tell something was wrong. He dropped his fork. "What's wrong, Madelyn?"
She looked up at him and swallowed hard. "Nothing." She bit her lip, looking down at her lap.
"Please stop biting your lip." She released it, looking up at him. He tilted his head. "What is it? I can tell you're hiding something."
She shifted. "You're one to talk," she mumbled.
"Excuse me?" His eyes narrowed. "If this is about last night, I said I was sorry."
"I know you did. But I wanted to know what was up there."
He stood up from the table, glaring down at her. "I told you that it was none of your business."
She stood, grabbing her plate to put it in the sink. "I guess I should have listened. It was none of my business."
Her back was to him, she couldn't bear to look at him. She didn't like it when he got angry. She wanted him happy and she hated that sometimes she took happiness away from him.
She she heard his footsteps and she watched him walk towards the room that made her feel so uncomfortable. She quickly dropped the plate in the sink and followed him. When she caught up to him, he was sitting at the top of the stairs, the door to the room open. He had his head in his hands and she couldn't tell how he was feeling right now. "Christian?"
He looked up and his he was face was red with tears. He was crying, but he looked angry. "Why won't you just do what you're told?"
Her eyebrows shot up. "Why won't I do what I'm told? Maybe because you can't tell me what to do? Maybe because I am my own person?"
"I told you not to go in there." He stood and walked into the room.
She ran up the stairs and ran in after him. "I wanted to know why!"
He turned to her, shaking his head. "You need to do what you are told. Simple as that, Miss Young."
His gray eyes were staring at her, angry, but almost lustful. He was so confusing. She groaned in frustration. "God, I hate you sometimes."
His expression softened and he almost looked sad. "You hate me? I thought you liked me?"
"I do like you. But this," She motioned around the room. "I don't like this. And I don't like when you get so angry and demanding."
He pushed her out the door and closed it, locking it behind them. "This is who I am, Miss Young. This is all I know."
She started down the stairs, her cheeks flushed with anger. "It's not that hard to try new things."
He followed her, wishing she would just drop it. "People have tried to change me before and it's never worked. Nobody can change me."
When he reached the last step, she turned to him. "I'm not nobody. I'm Madelyn Grace Young."
He tried to repress a smile. "And I'm Christian Grey."
"I don't see your point, Mr. Grey."
He thought for a second. The thought of not using the playroom didn't seem to bother him as much as he thought it would. He really cared about Madelyn and he could see her running away now that she knew about the room. But at the same time, he didn't want to get rid of it. The playroom was all he knew. How could he just completely change? "I'll think about it." She smiled and he felt that flutter he always felt when she looked at him like that. Oh, Madelyn Young. What are you doing to me?
