[10:56 p.m]

you guys have been walking for quite some time now. it's been silent. the wind lightly blowing in the background, the breeze ruffling the fallen leaves as they make crackling noises.

probably for the hundredth time tonight, megumi gazes over at you, long eyelashes fluttering against his cheeks as he slowly blinks.

you're strolling at his side, slightly humming a tune to yourself, one he recognizes as your favorite song due to how many times you have played it around him — so much that it might now even be his favorite too.

you're lost in your own world, rocking your head side to side as you survey the trail ahead of you. the moonlight is softly shining on you, making your skin glow in the night as you take in a small breath, your chest rising and then falling.

and when you feel his gaze, you turn your head to face him, a curious look on your face. he realizes he was staring at you, a little too long then he should have, and his face immediately grows warm — something that always seems to happen whenever he's around you.

he stutters out an incoherent apology, averting his eyes to his feet as if they are now the most interesting thing on the planet as he shoves his hands in his pockets.

but you only giggle at his antics, making him snap his head back to you. and when he sees the bright smile on your face, he starts to feel all fuzzy inside, and somehow he finds himself smiling back at you, once again taking this moment admiring the way your eyes light up in the night.

you guys fall back into a comfortable silence, and as you and megumi are once again walking side by side in the midst of the night, he swears there's something attacking his stomach.

it's doing flips, turning up and down, and like a flock of butterflies are swarming inside of him. but he's used to this feeling now. he's been feeling it for a while since he's met you.

he peers down at your arms, your right hand resting at your side, slightly swinging along with your movements. he can feel his fingers twitch, and suddenly the urge to hold your hand overtakes him, attacking him along with the butterflies flying around.

"i'm cold." he utters out into the dead of the night, almost unheard if it wasn't for the quiet surrounding the both of you.

he's not actually cold. it's just a somewhat lame excuse to signal that he wants to be closer to you.

as subtle as he could, he inches his hand closer to yours, to the point where the back of his palm just brushes against yours, tickling your skin.

you look up at him, already knowing what he wants. "me too."

in a swift manner, you grab his hand with yours, smiling up at him as he feels his face gets a thousand times hotter, but without wasting a moment he intertwines his long fingers with yours, your shoulder brushing against his side as you move in towards him.

content, megumi looks up into the night sky, and he decides what he has been meaning to say to you, even though this might not be exactly saying it.

out of the blue, he stops in his tracks, and you pause your steps as well, gazing at him with concerned eyes. before you get the chance to question him, he calls out your name softly, making your words come to a halt.

he inhales softly, beginning. "...i know i never find the right words, or the right time."

he's still staring up to the sky, his grip ever so slightly tightening on your hand, and he's thankful that you can't see the way his cheeks are burning red in the night.

"but i guess what i'm trying to say is..." he looks down at you, deep eyes looking into yours. "the moon is beautiful, isn't it?"

he smiles gently at you, the smile that you would search the entire earth just to find.

"megumi... the moon has always been beautiful."
