chapter 4

i laid there silently not knowing what to say.
a few minutes later emma walked down the stairs and came back into the living room and i moved away from him.
"skylar can you do french braids in my hair please" she asked. i nodded my head and got up. i was braiding her hair and watching the tv as her and nate talked over the tv.

i finished her hair and put her hair brush down onto the table. she thanked me and sat on the couch next to nate. she laid her head on his shoulder. i sat on the other side of the couch. away from them. my dog ran over to me and she laid on my lap.

i was scratching her belly and smiling at her.
"i'm gonna go shower"
i said getting up.
emma nodded and nate just looked at me

i went upstairs into my shower and stood directly under the hot water. it felt so good. i washed my hair and my body.

when i was done i got out and went into my bedroom to get into pjs.

i put lotion all over my body and sprayed some perfume.
i threw on a pair of shorts and a random shirt  i stole from Emma's room.

i brushed my hair out and put some moisturizer on my face.
i made my way back down the stairs into the living room.
"i'm going to bed"
i said to them.
emma said goodnight and told me she loves me and nate said goodnight.

stella followed me up the stairs and i went in my room. i helped her onto my bed because she's really small and can't get up there by herself.
i got under my sheets and laid with her. i laid there scrolling through tiktok.

then i got a text from nate

nate jacobs- your sister just left to go to cvs really fast. come downstairs

what the fuck
skylar- okay

i walked down the stairs and stella followed.

he was watching the tv but turned his head over to me as he watched me walk in the living room.

i sat down on the couch with stella
he sighed
"come over here,why you being shy"
he asked me
i looked at him and raised my eyebrows
but did what he said and went closer to him.
he put his arm around me and looked down
"you're really fucking beautiful"
he said to me.
"thankyou"
i said.

what is he doing and why is he doing it.he never really talks to me. and now he's telling me i'm beautiful?
he started to play with my hair.
it felt nice.

i've never really had a boyfriend. i have like flirted with a few guys here and there but i never was in a relationship. honestly i just don't trust any male to stay and actually love me. my own dad couldn't do that.

honestly i don't even know what to think of this situation though. he's only flirted with me a few times. i'm not gonna overthink it even though i probably should.

emma came back from cvs and i heard her open the door.  i quickly got off of nate and sat up. she came in the living room and looked at me "i thought you were sleeping" she said. "i came down here to get my blanket that i left and then i just got caught up watching the tv" i lied. she nodded her head and came to sit with me. she gave me a hug. and for some reason i really loved it. my sister is honestly my best friend. she's so sweet. and she's so good at comforting me. after we unattached from our hug she sat in between me and nate.
i laid my head on her lap while we all watched the tv. they had the office on. which is one of my top 10 favorite shows. and it's their favorite.

around 11:30 i went upstairs to go to bed for real this time.
stella ran up the stairs with me and we got in my bed and i almost immediately fell asleep.
