The Bright Side

The next day Danny woke up annoyed, he'd been attacked by heroes, talked into working with them, and when he tried to find the killer found five more bodies. Whoever this killer is was getting bolder, and they were going after more people each night which was very bad. If they didn't find them soon a lot more people were going to die and they had over a dozen victims already.

He spent the whole morning feeling annoyed and pretty much everyone noticed, they seemed to have decided not to pester him. When he got to school he still felt annoyed, how he was going to deal with a murderer and a team of heroes he didn't know. He had a feeling this whole thing was going to be one persisting headache which he was not excited about.

He opened his locker and practically threw his things in it, "Not excited about what happened last night?"

"No shit Sherlock."

He closed his locker and Richard was standing there like he usually did, "Try looking on the bright side."

"What bright side this is going to be a shit show."

Danny started walking to class and Richard walked next to him, "At least I'll be there, and I can spend more time with you outside of school." Danny wanted to keep being pissed off but he was having a hard time with that now and Richard smiled. "You don't seem to hate the idea."

"I wish I could but you make that a little difficult."

"Then I'm glad I'm difficult in this situation, but that aside what are you going to do?"

"I'm going to deal with the egotistical fuckers long enough to catch this murderer and then tell them to go fuck themselves."

"Wow you really don't like this whole thing do you?"

"I've made my stance on heroes very clear, you, Barbara, and Artemis earned a good standing but they haven't. I was willing to go there peacefully and talk and they tried to trap us so no, no I do not like this."

"Okay when you put it like that I really can't blame you."

"I know, and now I just want to get through these stupid fucking classes and somehow survive being around a bunch of heroes."

They walked into their class and sat down, "You know I feel like I should be offended when you insult heroes."

"To me you're not a hero, you're my boyfriend."

"I never took you for a sap."

"You shouldn't, believe me I'm not going to make a habit of it."

"Well I like it, it's good to know you're not all anger and insults."

Danny gave him a disgruntled look and he laughed a little, then the bell rang and students started coming into the classroom. They got through their morning classes and by the time lunch rolled around Danny just wanted the day to be over. He sat at the table he always sat at and when the others sat around him he didn't want to deal with them.

He had enough on his mind as it was and he knew he would snap if he was pushed enough which never ended well. Isabella spoke, "So did anything happen last night?"

"We agreed to meet a bunch of heroes and they tried to capture us."

Lucas dropped his fork, "Wait, which heroes?"

"Batman and all of the proteges, and I get the horrible feeling that we might end up meeting their mentors which might end with us throwing someone through a wall."

Isabella and Lucas stared at him, Artemis spoke, "Not too happy about meeting them?"

"They tried to capture us and Toxin was seconds away from tearing someone's throat out, what do you think?"

Isabella spoke, "Did you meet Robin?"

"Who the fuck do you think asked us to meet them?"

Lucas spoke, "You know Robin?"

"And Batman, and the man is a dick."

They could tell from the look on Danny's face that he wasn't happy with what happened so they decided to change the subject a little. Isabella spoke, "So what happened after they tried to catch you?"

"We begrudgingly agreed to work with them to catch this murderer, now drop it."

They shut up immediately, they still couldn't believe that Danny was talking to them more so they didn't want to push it. Barbara spoke, "So are we not going to talk about the fact that you two are dating?"

Danny growled a little and Toxin growled too, 'I want to kill her.'

Richard could tell that Danny was not happy so he answered, "No, and I think we should be the ones to tell people about that by the way."

He gave Barbara an unamused look and she at least had the decency to look sorry, Danny had already finished eating so he got up and left. Richard went after him and they ended up outside, he grabbed Danny's hand to stop him, "I know you're not too happy right now but will you at least talk to me?"

"You want me to talk, fine, yes we're dating and honestly I'm happy about it but it's bullshit that they just go around telling people. And what the fuck is there to talk about, we're dating, people don't always talk about their relationships."

"I get it I do, but regardless we're still dating and I care about you."

Danny felt himself calm down a little as much as he didn't want to, then Richard hugged him and he was having a hard time staying mad. After a minute Richard let him go and the bell rang, they went back inside, Danny really just wanted to get through the rest of the day.
