Melissa woke up in Ringo's arms the next morning, and the first thing she thought of was the ring on her finger. She turned in his arms, burying her face into his bare chest.
Ringo breathed out contentedly. "Good mornin', Mrs Starkey."
"Not yet," she teased. "But soon."
"Tomorrow, my love." He pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "You look beautiful."
"I have morning breath, and I've just woken up -"
"And yer still the most beautiful thing in the room." Melissa smiled. "I love you." Ringo said simply. She smiled again - oh, how she loved it when he told her that.
"I love you more," she answered. "Cyn and John know about our engagement, but the others don't - can we tell them over breakfast?"
"Brekkie soun's good, yeah." Ringo agreed. "Are you gonna brush yer teeth now?"
She nodded. "My toothbrush is still in the bathroom, isn't it?"
"I didn't move it." Ringo said in reply. He kissed the top of her head again, knowing that she didn't like being kissed before she brushed her teeth. Mel got out of the bed and smiled at her fiance before she left the room, wrapping his dressing gown around her before she went - she didn't want a repeat of the previous day!
"You were making a racket last night, Melissa!" Paul said by way of a greeting as the couple sat down beside each other at the breakfast table.
"Coulda deafened poor Julian if yer weren't careful!" George exclaimed, plating up some eggs for the six of them and Julian.
"She had good reason to!" Cynthia exclaimed.
Melissa grinned. "Wha's the reason, then?" Paul asked.
Ringo and Melissa looked at each other, chorusing, "we're engaged!"
George's eyes widened, and Paul spat his coffee back into his cup. "Oh..." Paul trailed off, "so soon?"
"We're in love, aren't we?" Ringo asked the bassist. "Why wait? We know it's right."
Melissa hummed in agreement. "So when are you getting married, then?" George asked.
"Tomorrow." George fell off of his chair - quite literally. He landed on the floor, with Julian laughing at him, and the others guffawing loudly.
"How are you going to get everything sorted in time for tomorrow?" Cynthia asked excitedly.
"Nothin' is impossible for Ringo Starr." Ringo declared. "I'll call Eppy right away and 'e will sort it fer us."
Ringo rose from the breakfast table, the food which George had so caringly made was left untouched. Melissa followed him, thanking George for the food and apologising that they could not eat it.
Ringo dialled the number quickly and put the phone between his and Melissa's ears, and waited for Brian Epstein to pick up. When he did, he exclaimed, "hello, Brian Epstein's office!"
"Eppy!" Ringo exclaimed.
"Hello, Ringo!" Eppy replied, "how're you?"
"Very well, thank you." He answered. "I need a favour."
"Anything that is in my power to do, I will." Eppy promised.
"I'm getting married tomorrow and I need you to sort it all out - and attend, of course." Brian was quiet. "Eppy...?"
"Tomorrow, you say?"
Ringo nodded as he replied, "yes."
Eppy was silent for a moment. "I think I can do it - everything will have to be rushed, but The Beatles is enough to get everything done right - leave it with me," he paused, "does your bride have a dress?"
"No, Mr Epstein." Melissa answered.
"Eppy is fine, luv," Brian said, "it's nice to hear your voice, I suppose - I'll meet you tomorrow, for sure." He paused. "You two leave it all with me - I'll have some dresses delivered later, and you need to pick your favourite. Is Cynthia going to be your bridesmaid?"
"Yep." Melissa replied.
"Okay, that's one problem out of the way." Eppy took a second to breathe, which could be heard from their end of the phone. "Church wedding?"
"Yes." They chorused.
"Reception afterwards?"
"An 'otel." Ringo said. "The poshest I can afford."
Eppy chuckled. "Only the best for your wife, eh, Ringo?"
Ringo agreed, "only the best."
"I'll sort it for you two. Just invite whoever you want." Epstein paused, "and congratulations."
He hung up and Ringo turned to Melissa. "Is it alright to invite the boys?"
"Of course!" Melissa exclaimed.
"Do you want to invite anybody?" He asked carefully, not sure of how she would react to the thought of her mother coming to her wedding - her daughter's union to the man that just the previous day she had insulted.
"My family," Melissa answered carefully. "My brother Max, especially - I'd like him to give me away."
"Then ask him, by all means." Ringo encouraged her, placing a kiss on her lips. They kissed for a few moments, enjoying the feeling of the other person's lips against their own. "Shall we go back to breakfast?" Ringo asked afterwards, smiling at his beautiful wife-to-be. "I know that George puts a lot of effort into his food, and it always tastes good, so it'd be a shame to waste it."
Melissa nodded and stood up, lacing her fingers with her fiance's. "His food is amazing." She agreed as they went back into the kitchen.
