Scarlett's POV

"You little bit*h! You think you will escape from here, huh? You still think I will let you free." He smacked my face. Hard

The force compelled me to fall down. I felt my cheeks burning and my lips started to bleed because I had bitten them accidentally.

He grabbed my hair and pulled them. I cried out. I struggled to free myself but to no avail.

"Don't you ever learn your lesson? You know it's no use to try to escape me."

As much as I wanted to oppose that I couldn't. Because it was true. I can never be free from him. I tried before many times to run away but they always caught me.

It was not like this before. Before I had a happy, loving family. But it all changed when my mom fell ill. She was diagnosed with brain tumor when I was 12. We were middle class. My step-dad who treated me as his own blood was desperate to save my mom. I was too. In order to save her, we used up whatever we had for her treatment because there was hope.

Hope. Huh! Such a deceitful word. It gave life to someone but to some it stole their lives. It was like a necessary evil.

My mom got her treatment for a year but her condition was worsening. We could not save her and it killed my dad.

My mom's death killed my dad. And I was left alone. Alone to face the world, the venomous people, the cruelty. With no one to guide. I thought there was nothing worse than that but here I am.

I could not even live freely. I was broken.

He undid his pants. I shouted at the terror for what was about to come. I tried to free myself but to dismay.

He slapped me and tried to kiss me forcefully. With all my left strength, I hit his head with my forehead. I almost blackout because of the force. He freed me and moved back. He looked disoriented but not for long.

"You bit*h!" He slapped me one more time.

He hold me in place and taking his belt in his hand, he whipped me. I felt my flesh burning. I could feel blood dripping down. I shouted. I struggled.

He punched my face multiple times, kicked me in the stomach, stepped on my thighs, legs. And what not?

I was losing consciousness. I no longer struggled. I just laid down waiting for the last whip to come. I knew I was not surviving this. This was my end.

Just then, the door opened. I could interpret a man at the door. I could not see him properly.

Black clouded my eye sight and slowly I felt my eyes dropping.

I woke up to someone holding my right hands firmly. It felt comfortable. I was feeling safe after a long time. The person gently rubbed my palm. It felt soothing.

The machine beeping broke me out of my trance. I wanted to open my eyes. It was hard. So, I tried to move my body. At first, I could barely move my toes. I moved my hands.

I was clutching someone's hand, so I added some pressure to it.

I heard voices and after sometimes I tried to open my eyes and this time, I opened them.

I saw a handsome man looking at me worriedly. He looked overwhelmed with happiness and surprise.

But who was he?
And where was I?
And then, it struck me. Where  boss?
