Bakura To The Rescue

The next morning everyone but Atem woke up early to finish their travel preparations. Atem, having never gone to sleep thus not being included in with those who woke up, was still sitting next to Yugi. It was stressing to Atem to know that his partner, his Abiou, was suffering so much and that there was little he could do to relieve it.

'How long will this last? It hurts so much to see him suffer like this...why couldn't it have been me.'

Atem thought, as another whimper of pain escaped Yugi's lips.

Atem then continued to dab the youths fevered forehead, Yugi's fever having not broken at all during the night despite Atem's constantly trying to cool him with meds and cold compresses.

After a few minutes of this Joey ran up to Atem.

"Here pal'" Joey ran up handing Atem a sausage and egg biscuit.

"Your going to need your strength if we will be traveling for a while" Joey said encourageingly to the exhausted former pharaoh.

"Thanks Joey" Atem politely responded, gratefully accepting the food.

"No prob's pal" Joey then looked closely at Atem and saw deep purple shadows around his sunken eyes. He also noticed that Atem looked a bit pale.

"Hey, Atem" Joey stated nervously calling the former pharaoh by his name for the first time.

"Yes?" Atem didn't seem to mind him being called Atem, it is his name after all.

"You don't look so good, your not getting enough rest and you may get sick, so how about while we start driving you go to sleep and let me take care of Yugi?"

Atem glanced at his sleeping companion for a minute before turning back to Joey, "Thank you I would gladly accept that but please wake me imediatly if anything happens or if his condition changes. While your right and I should try hard not to get sick, I also need to be updated on his condition."

"Alright I understand pal" Joey smiled causing Atem to give a tired smile back.

After everyone was ready and everything packed, the gang got into the black travel jeeps and started to journey towards there destination in hopes of finding the cure for Yugi.

As they traveled Atem sat on one side of Yugi while Joey sat on the other side. Joey had taken over the roll of keeping Yugi cool while Atem tried to fall asleep. He was just to concerned for Yugi that sleep kept eluding him despite how tiered he was. After about an hour of traveling Atem's mind finally decided it was alright for him to shut down and so Atem was drawn into an uneasy sleep.

Up in the jeep ahead Kiaba turned to face Shadi and asked, "How long can we travel by jeep again?"

"We have two days, so before we stop tomorrow we should probaly get some horses."

"Alright that's what I thought. We should also pick up some weapons just incase those creatures try to attack us again"

"Yes that would be wise, and we'll definitely will need them if our guess is right and that they are blocking the entrance since they can't go in and retrieve it."

Shadi and Kiaba discussed a little bit more on what they needed to get and who should get what. After that they pulled over to. Eat some lunch.
The gang stopped at a small clearing and Téa pulled out a small picnic basket and a large blanketed quilt. She with the help of Marik pulled the blanket out and set it down just below a large tree. They then proceeded to hand out sandwiches and fruit cups as well as a bottle of water. Everyone sat down to eat while Atem went to go get Yugi now that everything was set up.
Atem had gently picked up Yugi and leaned him up against the tree. He placed his hand on Yugi's forehead to find it still burning to the touch.

'Exactly how much pain is he in' He thought before deciding to do a body switch. There was a small flash of green light as Atem entered his soul room to find Yugi on the bed he had conjured sleeping fitfully. Atem walked over to him and lightly touched his forehead. It was cool. This relieved Atem since this told him that Zorc's powers are only seeping through the physical barrier and that Yugi's soul is still safe for the time being.
Atem then switched into Yugi's body and to his horror found that the heat from the fever was actually causeing so much pain to the body that Atem realized that Yugi had stayed asleep just to avoid the sensation of being burned in flames.
Quickly returning to his body Atem decided that Yugi needed another dose of morphine.

"Everything alright Pharaoh? we saw that you suddenly disappeared"Marik asked.
"Hopefuly in a minuet everything will be. Hey Bakura, since your closest can you bringme a syringe of Yugi's morphine.

EB's POV

'Hehehehe this should be quicker then I thought' I smirked as I turned from the others. 'Good thing I at least have a photo memory and know exactly which one is the one with the toxin'

After a few more seconds I got to the jeep with Yugi's medicine taking out the bottom one and took out the needel. 'HEHEHE victory is going to be mine.'

Bakura's POV

After I was shown that image of EB injecting that vile toxin into my sick friends morphine case I started to run looking for a means of escape. After a long while of running I saw a illuminated door. On the door it was written 'Bakura's Body Control'. Hopefully this will allow me to get back in control of everything. Entering it I realized that I was not in my body. Instead there where doors,lots and lots of illuminated doors all about 50 feet in front of each other.
I looked at the door on my immediate left and read that it said 'Regain Control of Left Leg'
I then deduced that depending on which door I go in will give me control to that body part.
"ARGGH I WISH I KNEW HOW TO GET CONTROL BACK OVER MY WHOLE BODY!"
Suddenly as if to answer my wish a pice of paper,glowing paper, fell in front of me.
Picking it up I saw that it was a map of my body control. Glancing at it quickly I saw that labeled under the brain it said 'Full Body Control.'........duh I smacked my head at my idiocy. I took off at a run.
Even though it is extreamly dark here, I realized that whenever that evil tomb robber was concerned I would get a flash of the outside world to see what was going on. And it just so happened that as I was nearing the heart I got a glimpse of him getting a chance to give Yugi the toxin. Desperate I saw that I was only a few feet from the right hand door. Quickening my pace I ran to the door hoping I would make it in time

AmandatheFox- omg guys guess what I am alive!!!! After my brief brush with death I have decided that If I do die then at least I'll die with this fanfic done. So I have picked this story back up, albit updates will be slow do to the fact that I got casted for my very first voice audition! Plus I perform in Alice in Wonderland. Also I decided to post today since it is my birthday!!!!

AmandatheFox- well you see I have extreme Asthma so the other day I had gone into an extreme attack so yeah that's my brush with death. Also thanks guys! I'm so freaking exited since its my 18th birthday also my parents got me a ticket to AWA or Anime Weekand Atlantafor all 4 days of this Anime convention and guess who's coming as guests!!!!
