Much to Harry's dismay, Rosie and the Ravenclaw girl had gotten closer over the weeks. Rosie would duck in and out of the common room and return with a large grin on her face, or always seemed to 'have to go to the library.' Perhaps it was selfish, but Harry always assumed she would like him back and wait. Maybe he owed it to her to be supportive in her romantic endeavors. It wasn't just Harry who showed distaste in this new union. Hermione was the only one in their group still happy about this. Ron and Rosie never had any romantic energy between the two, but Ron was a stubborn person by nature, and the two just encouraged each other. Ron just missed her. Harry knew this was how he felt. Maybe he would be mad for a bit. She left them.
"Oi, shitheads!" A voice called. Harry immediately recognized the voice and began to smile, but remembered he was being angry.
"Rosalind," greeted Harry coldy.
"What's gotten your knickers in a twist?" scoffed Rosie. Nobody called her Rosalind, Harry knew that.
"You have. Showing off your new girlfriend and basically ghosting us."
"Do you all feel this way?" asked Rosie, looking at Ron and Hermione. Ron sneered and Hermione gave her a sympathetic look.
"I mean, you're never around anymore," began Hermione.
"'Mione, you're supposed to be happy for me." Rosie glared at the three Gryffindors. "You lot are being arseholes. I guess I'll just ghost you and gallivant around with my new girlfriend." With that she turned around and stormed out.
"Harry, you moron!" Hermione got up quickly, shoving her books into her bag. "She is nothing but supportive of you, just don't be a selfish arse for two seconds and think about someone other than yourself." She chased after her friend, leaving the two boys alone, both trying to conceal their guilt.
"So, I heard Fred and George are going to try to get past the Age Line," said Ron in a futile attempt to change the topic.
"Yeah.."
It had been announced first night of term that a tournament was to take place starting in October. Harry was thankful he did not meet the age limit, he had his fair share of glory. For once, he wouldn't be in the spotlight.
"I reckon we should apologize, yeah?" said Ron.
"You do you, Ron, I want her to apologize to me first."
"Bloody hell mate, you should just tell her you're in love with her," Ron rolled his eyes and walked away, following the girls.
"I'm not in love with her," said Harry to nobody. "I'm not."

Ron, Hermione, and Rosie were on good terms, but Harry was being completely iced out. Rosie had no reason to apologize, he saw that now, but he was in too deep to say sorry himself. So, they were at an impasse. What was worse, Harry's feelings seemed to have grown in their time apart. He seemed to constantly be pining for the girl, stealing glances in class and in the halls. But, he had waited too long. Rosie and Connie seemed to be Hogwarts "it" couple, boosting many people's confidence to come out. Rosie was of course very happy to be the pioneer in this ship of gays seeming to arrive to Hogwarts. It was the 90's and gay people were everywhere, the wizarding world not withstanding. The year of 1994 was reminding many professors of the year of '76-'77, a grim remembrance of the Marauders' 6th year, a very difficult year indeed.
But overall, Harry was disappointed. In himself, in everything. Everyone seemed to be against him recently. Their new DADA teacher was very concerning overall, and seemed to be very confused on how he felt about Harry. Snape was being a greasy snake as per usual. But Rosie was the kicker. She refused to make eye contact or go within three feet of him. Harry's pity parties had become quite frequent, and Ron was very tired of being his confidant.
"Harry, get yourself together," the exasperated ginger would say. "I'm tired of hearing your whining, just please apologize." Harry would never reply, and the grudge would continue to be held.

Rosie would never admit it, but she missed her best friend. She missed going on adventures with him. She missed gossiping with him. She missed stealing his things and hiding them in random places around the castle. She missed her best friend. But, he had to apologize first, and he didn't seem to care. Every time she would sneak a look, he always looked cold and bored. He didn't care enough to apologize, so she wouldn't care enough to break the ice.
Connie was great, though. She was there, and perfect girlfriend. But, she was no Harry, and as amazing as she was, she was no Harry. Rosie wasn't complaining at all though. She had a brilliant, gorgeous girlfriend. Their sarcastic personalities complimented each other, and with Connie came a bunch of 5th year Ravenclaw friends, including Connie's roomates: Cho and Marietta, who were both very cool and slightly intimidating. Cho was on and off with the Hufflepuff prefect Rosie had met at the World Cup, and Marietta seemed to know everything about everyone. They were great girlfriends, and Connie was a great girlfriend, but Rosie found herself still thinking about Harry. She thought their friendship meant something to him, but it clearly didn't matter enough, because he wouldn't even bother to look her way.
(A/N this is just backstory on their thoughts
about Connie bc I love her and she stays present)
