Chapter 2 | Epiphany

As they were walking down the busy street, Killua noticed that this was a completely different place from where he and Alluka left off (before Illumi tracked them and started chasing them down creepy alleyways; and before Alluka and Nanika teleported him to god-knows-where).

Everything seemed a bit more... advanced? The cars, the technology... Instead of the alphabet he was used to, the shops and cafes had strange-looking symbols plastered on their posters and billboards. He could somewhat read them (since they were similar to the alphabet he knew), but the boy still had a hard time understanding what they were saying. Despite his special training, he had never seen these types of characters before, which made his theory take a different turn...

"Hey old man, is your name actually 'Eraserhead' or is that an alias?"

The pro hero felt annoyed at being called an 'old man' but decided to answer the question nonetheless.

"It's an alias. My real name is Shota Aizawa."

"Your real name doesn't seem to be a secret... So why do you use an alias?"

"It's the hero gig kid," was Aizawa's blunt answer. "Speaking of which... What's your name?"

Killua paused for a bit, contemplating if he should reveal his name or not. "The name's Killua," he answered, deciding it wasn't a big deal. "And what country did you say this was again?"

At this point, Aizawa couldn't tell if Killua was messing with him or if he genuinely didn't know.

"Japan," he answered.

"And on the map, in which part of the world is this... 'Japan'?"

"...Asia." The hero paused, "Didn't your parents teach you basic geography? Where are you from anyway?"

Killua thought playing dumb was the best option right now. "I don't remember. Besides, it's none of your business."

"I'm a pro hero kid. Heroes are supposed to help people. How am I supposed to help you if you don't tell me anythi–" Then Aizawa suddenly realised something. The silverette said he "doesn't remember"...

"Do you perhaps... have amnesia...?"

The cat-eyed boy was about to scoff and throw a sassy remark at Aizawa, but after a bit of thought he figured that it would actually be a plausible excuse for him being so clueless about the place he teleported to.

"I don't like talking about it..." Said the white haired boy, acting all vulnerable so that Aizawa wouldn't even try to ask him anything else – only adding a cherry on top to his new excuse.

'How did I not think of this sooner...'

...

Apparently they were pretty far away from the police station since they've been walking for a while now... Not like Killua cared though. He was planning to get away from the scene as soon as an opportunity would arise.

This little stroll was only giving him more time to adapt to the new environment. The boy's eyes were running wild trying to take in the new scenery; meanwhile Aizawa looked like he could doze off any second now...

He noticed that a lot of people had peculiar looks... Not something you'd expect from what he assumed were normal civilians. Some had horns, some had an extra pair of arms... People literally came in all shapes and sizes. If you squinted, you'd be able to see creatures that didn't even look close to something human - yet no one minded. As if they were all used to it.

Killua felt a bit uncomfortable though, since they reminded him of those Chimera Ants he fought not long ago. To this day, the boy still had nightmares of the events that took place a little over a year ago. It was a rough patch of his life since after all, he did nearly lose Gon. He didn't understand how everyone were so nonchalant about this.

'What a bizarre place,'  thought the albino.

He had to remind himself that the Chimera Ants have been defeated, and the mission has been successful. He was fine now. With that thought in mind, Killua started looking around again, trying to get himself distracted from his thoughts. He had to focus on what he was going to do now to get back to his sisters, so thinking of the past was pointless...

...

During their walk, the pale boy asked several more weird questions, but the pro decided not to read into them too much at the moment since he was planning to hand the boy over to Detective Tsukauchi, who would surely have the albino answer all of the questions that were currently plaguing Aizawa's mind.

Besides, even if he tried questioning the kid, it was pointless. The boy seemed to be skilled in evading questions he didn't want to answer. And besides, he had amnesia anyway (which seemed like a sensitive topic for the kid so Aizawa refrained from questioning him about it). Although the hero suspected that Killua might've been lying about his 'amnesia' since he seemed a little too chill about his current predicament. He couldn't be sure though.

He needed someone who could effortlessly differentiate the truth from the lies... Someone like the detective; which is why right now – his main goal was to get to the police station as fast as possible, so he answered all of the foreign brat's questions without much hesitation.

After a few more odd questions, Killua was hit by an epiphany.

His theory was actually correct! It was the only thing that made sense to him, and it actually seemed plausible now that he had a bit more information.

When he just woke up, the first thing that came to mind was that he was either teleported to a different city or to a nen-conjured place Nanika created in order to protect him, but after seeing the city itself, he doubted that even Nanaika would be able to create and think through an whole new world in a matter of seconds, and after asking Aizawa a few questions, he came up with a new theory in which he suspected that this...

This was not his world.

Look at my boy using his brains! *sniffles*

I started writing this chapter at about 2 am and just realized that now it's light outside. My sleep schedule really is nonexistent...
