Your Precious Gems. [A NortNaib Fanfic]

And So It Begins...

I recently moved to a northern part of Europe near some woods. I liked it out here, it was quiet and there was no one to bother me. But one day, I saw someone else out here. He was a tall man with black hair, a scar on one side of his face and he wore gloves. He was looking for something in the dirt. I couldn't take my eyes off him, there was something about him that mesmerized me, maybe it was the way he was so focused on finding something in that old dirt, or his beautiful aura he gave off. I didn't want to speak to him in fear that I'd scare him off, but he kept coming back to that same spot, possibly looking for the same thing. One day I was just so curious that I spoke to the tall man.

" I see you here often, why? " I spoke and as I did I startled the man.

" Eh?!- Oh. Uhm hello, I'm just some guy that collects and sells precious stones you could say. " The man said as he then asked. " What's a kid like you living out here in the forest alone? "

" Well sorry to break it to you but I'm well near my thirties. " I announced with an annoyed tone.
'Why do people always think I'm a child?' I thought to myself.

" Oh. Sorry about that, sir. You see, I live near by. The precious stones here are quite common to find. " 
" What's you're reasoning for living here? "

" I mean..why not live here? Its quiet here, more freedom to let yourself go, and its not busy compared to the city streets. " I said in response to the tall man's question. " May I ask, what's your name? "

" Ah I see. Also, my name is Norton Campbell, age 28. A retired prospector. "

" Well it only makes it right if I tell you who I am. I'm Naib Subedar, age 27. Moved from Nepal to here. "

" Why'd you move? " Norton asked.

" Job requirements and such. I've retired from that job though, I'm just looking for another simpler job now. " I stated.

" I see. Well, it's getting dark now, I better get going. " The black haired man rose from his crouching position and took his gloves off.

" Goodbye. " I said as I waved sluggishly with my legs crossed, leaning on the railing of my porch.

That wasn't the last of Norton Campbell I saw though. He kept coming back, and we had conversations each time. Sometimes I'd offer him to come in or offered him snacks or drinks. He was a nice man, but sometimes cold and didn't want to be talked to. I don't think he hated me, he just needed his privacy and I do respect that. One day I had to meet up with some old friends, Aesop Carl and Eli Clark.

They drove up to my house, both in the front seats. I grabbed my backpack that had a water bottle, my wallet, snacks, and other items I needed in there. I opened the car door and sat in the back seat.

" Naib! It's so nice to see you again! " Eli said to me with a smile as he turned to face me.

" Likewise! How have you two been? Well, I hope. " I said with a small smile on my face.

" We've certainly been well. Though, we did run into some trouble with someone at our apartment. " Aesop said as he started to back out of the driveway.

" Ah, yeah. That Luca and Mike are so much trouble... " Eli said as he turned back to face the windshield.

" Huh? What happened? "

" Heh well--something happened and they asked to borrow our kitchen, and we'll- they nearly set the whole apartment complex on fire. " Eli said.

" WHAT? " I exclaimed in shock.

" Aha- yeah. " Aesop said in a disappointed voice.

The rest of the car ride I told them about Mr. Campbell since he was really the only interesting thing about my life currently.

When we reached our destination (which was a zip lining place that also had a park) I immediately got out of the car and admired the large area. Eli and Aesop got out of the car and laughed at me admiring the place as if a child would admire a toy. I wasn't bothered by them though. Despite being small and slim, I've always been athletic. I ran to the small hut like building as the other two tried to catch up. I stopped myself at the door and waited for the two as they panted while running.

I opened the door for them to enter before me, as we all entered we laughed but then the cashier looked at us funny then we immediately stopped. Eli let out one last giggle and then we walked up to the desk. Aesop and Eli argued (friendly argued) for a few moments over who would pay for the tickets, the cashier became annoyed and Eli ended up paying. We walked out the back exit which had a path leading to the main zip lining course.

We ran around the whole day, going on each course, swinging at the park, messing around and such. I've always had fun with these two, as they where easy to get along with. Aesop was a bit on the shy side but did enjoy everyday things, Eli was understanding and had an older protective but also annoying brother feeling to him.

At the end of the day, we were worn out and went out to eat. We just went to a fast food place, we went through the drive through and drove back to my place.

As we reached my house at the woods I offered them to stay over for the night since it'd be too late for them by the time they reached their apartment. They said yes and stayed the night.

The next day as we all awoke, I went outside to see if Mr. Campbell was already out there, and not to my surprise, he was there as usual.

" You got relatives over? " Norton said as he looked at Aesop's car then back at me. 

" No, just friends. "

" I wouldn't expect someone like you to have friends. " Norton teased with a childish smirk on his face

" Atleast I don't spend all day outside looking for some stones." I teased back while rolling my eyes.

" Oh you- " Norton got up from his crouching position and walked towards my porch. He put his finger right in the middle of my chest.

I looked down in confusion.

Campbell then flicked my forehead! Oh the nerve of this guy! I hopped over the porch railing and began to chase after him. We ran around the woods and then I finally punched his shoulder, hard.

" FUCK- " Norton yelled as I laughed.

" Ah I should probably go, I need to say bye to my friends. " I had realized.

" I'll just go with you, it's not likr you're going anywhere, are you? "

" Well, no. Would you like to meet them? "

" Sure! " Campbell said as he started walking towards my house as I followed behind.

When we reached the house Norton walked inside. We walked into the living room where they slept on the futon couch, they were cuddled together, still sleeping. Norton looked at me then I looked at him.

" I expected them to be awake by now... " I whispered to Campbell

" Its fine we can go to your room or something. " Norton whispered back

" Alright" I then led him to my room  and we sat on my bed talking about things, telling jokes, ranting about dumb things.
