Nagito opened his eyes to moonlight streaming through his window. He sat up groggily and took out his phone to check the time.

1:00 AM, Saturday.

"It's Saturday, heh, I didn't even notice." Nagito said to himself. There isn't anyone who'd notice or care if he was up, so he could be as loud as he wanted.

He stood up and got an energy drink from the pack that sat on his desk. These were always cold for some reason, despite never being in a fridge. Probably just his luck.

He opened the drink he'd grabbed and took a sip of it, smiling.

"Why do I even drink these so often, they don't help or anything." He chuckled to himself, walking back to his bed and sitting on it. He took another sip of the energy drink.

Nagito pulled out his phone to see a text from Chiaki. He opened it.

Chiaki: "Hey Komaeda, you doing okay?"

Nagito smiled at his friend's concern.

Nagito: "Yes, Nanami, I'm fine. Don't waste your time worrying about me :)"

Nagito put his phone down, assuming Chiaki wasn't awake.

"What should I do...maybe I can go on a walk..." Nagito finished his energy drink and threw away the can.

"Should change out of my uniform first." He stood up and changed into black pants and a white shirt with a red graphic on it, then pulled his green jacket on over his shoulders. He put on his shoes and zipped them closed, not bothering to zip up his jacket, then left his dorm. He walked down the hallway and outside. There was a slight breeze and it was pretty bright despite being late. The bottom of his jacket slightly swayed in the breeze, along with his hair. He chuckled at this and started walking in a random direction, eventually ending up outside of Hope's Peak. He stared at the empty street, crossing it with a nonchalant smile. He continued walking until he ended up in the city. Most buildings were closed expect for some stores here and there.

Nagito laughed at nothing, careless about who might hear and/or care.

"Ahaha, this is truly a beautiful place." He continued walking, not bothering to look at anything. He didn't even know where he was, not like there was anyone who'd give a shit if he got lost. He was worthless, after all.

Nagito stopped in front of a random store, hugging himself and breathing heavily. Worthless, worthless, worthless. That single word ran through his head again and again. He moved one of his hands to his head, pulling at his hair with his fingers. He let out a breathy laugh. Worthless, worthless, worthless. That's all he ever was, all he'd ever be. Worthless, worthless, worth...less...

"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" He didn't care who heard him. He didn't fucking care. Nothing mattered. 'Worthless, worthless, worthless, worthless...' He'd never gain talent, nobody'd ever really care about him. Who would?! He was worthless, talentless, and trash. Nobody would care if he died right here, nobody'd notice.

"Haha, wow...! All of this unprovoked, it's so amazing what your mind can do to you!" He chuckled, smiling of insanity.

"...Komaeda?!"

Nagito whirled his head around to see Hajime, looking extremely concerned and a bit scared.

He chuckled and turned around, smiling. "Hello, Hinata-kun."

"I- You- Are you okay?!"

"Yeah, of course. This is a normal thing, after all. Don't get all worried over trash like me." Nagito said, looking at his hand.

"That- Isn't normal. You're fucking insane if you think that's a normal thing to happen. There's seriously something wrong with you."

"You think I don't know that? Yeah, I'm insane, and pathetic, and trash, all of that."

"Why are you acting so casual abut this?!"

"As I said, this is normal." Nagito said with a smile. "Ether way, what're you doing out here so late at night?"

"I...woke up around an hour ago and decided to go on a walk, so..." Hajime blinked.

"You're trying to avoid this by changing the subject, aren't you? Well, that isn't going to happen. I'm not dumb." Hajime walked up to Nagito and put his hands on Nagito's shoulders.

"Komaeda, with all honesty, I'm willing to help you with whatever the hell's going on in your head."

"Huh?"

"If you want me to, of course, but I'm willing to help you." Hajime smiled. "I'm no therapist, but..."

"Why do you care enough to help worthless trash like me?"

"You're not worthless. You're a good friend, and a good person. You're just a bit fucked up."

"I..."

"Let me help you, okay?"

Nagito started crying out of happiness. "Yeah. Sure."

"Wh- I- Are you okay?"

Nagito chuckled. "Yeah, it's just nice to have somebody who cares."

"Is there nobody else who cares about you...?"

Nagito nodded.

"I see." Hajime moved his arms around Nagito's back and pulled him close, which led to Nagito looking up at Hajime in shock.

"I'm going to help you through whatever's going on in your head."

Nagito laughed. "It'll be hard to fix this mess."

"Well, I'm sure as hell willing to do whatever it takes."

Nagito looked at the city behind them over Hajime's shoulder, feeling genuinely happy for the first time in a while.
