*i swear it gets worse. prepare yourself for a rollercoaster of cringe :s*
Everyone's reaction started as what Sophie had expected. Mostly. The adults all looked slightly ashen, Biana sobbed, Linh comforted Biana, Tam looked a little bit hurt; Marella, Maruca, and Wylie all blanched, Dex looked a little uncomfortable and Fitz.
Fitz's emotions seemed to be warring with each other. Sophie had expected him to shout a bit, and she totally understood that. But his reaction was far from that. She could see many feelings— loss, shock, distrust and was that— guilt?
Why would Fitz be guilty?
She had two things to investigate. Why didn't Dex pick up her hails, and why was Fitz guilty? She opened her mind to his and transmitted, "Hey Fitz. You okay? I don't need to be an Empath to know that you're feeling guilty. Why is that?"
Fitz looked a bit startled, but he replied, "It's nothing, Sophie. No reason to worry." He tried giving a smile, but Sophie saw right through it. She rolled her eyes and answered back, "Seriously. You know that it's never true. Guilt can be dangerous, Fitz. I don't want to lose you like that." Fitz gave another smile. Sophie was happy to see that even though it looked weary, it was a real smile.
Meanwhile, everyone else was still in their panicked, confused state. Tam, however, looked worse. He felt really guilty for envying Keefe's life. Linh noticed this and said, "Tam, It's okay. I'm sure Keefe wouldn't like it if you felt guilty. What matters now is that we work on finding Keefe and destroying the Neverseen." Tam nodded and quietly said, "Thanks, Linh. I'll go visit Glimmer for some time." Linh looked annoyed and was about to protest, but Sophie overheard this and jumped in with, 'Wait! I'll come too. I don't want to get stuck in this mess."
The two of them light-leaped to Tiergan's house, where Glimmer was staying. As soon as they entered, Glimmer walked up to them and huffed, "Wow. You had to bring her? I don't have anything else to spill, so you can stop interrogating me and drop the 'Let's-Be-Friends!' act." Sophie shook her head, saying, "Glimmer, I'm asking you to trust me. We don't want to interrogate you. We just want you to trust us. And besides, I didn't even tag along because you were there. My home's currently filled with emotional wrecks." Sophie laughed bitterly.
She remembered that Mr. Forkle had told her a way to get Glimmer to trust her. It was simple but highly unlikely to succeed. Sophie reasoned that it would be better to try and fail than to not even try. She transmitted to Glimmer, "I need to tell you something. Can I enter your mind? That way, you'll be able to reply." Glimmer was shocked to see that Sophie didn't just barge into her mind. Instead, Sophie had asked for permission. Still feeling suspicious, she agreed. Sophie was also bewildered that Glimmer actually allowed her into her head. The 'plan' had actually worked.
* I need ideas on how to get Sophie into glimmer's mind. I had to use this unrealistic -_-one, ( I mean glimmer wont actually let her in If she used that- that EXCUSE) but if you have any others please tell me!*
She entered Glimmer's mind and— wow. She had been in a Flasher's mind before, but this was different somehow. Glimmer's mind was full of bright light, so bright that it dazed Sophie. She quickly got out of Glimmer's mind and shook her head, trying to make the blinding light lingering in her head fade. But it didn't work. Sophie opened her eyes and— she saw colorful ribbons, practically flowing out of Tam and Glimmer.
She exclaimed, "Woah. Is that always how it is like for you?" Glimmer frowned and tilted her head, obviously confused. Sophie described, "It's like streaks of colors are flowing out of both of you." Tam was even more confused *repetitive* than the two of them. He just shrugged and said, "We'll ask Forkle. Maybe he'll know." Sophie agreed, but she had a sinking feeling whatever Mr. Forkle told her, it wouldn't be good.
They light-leaped back to Havenfield, where everybody was waiting for them. "Sophie! You seriously don't think you can sneak around without explaining everything!" Biana scolded. "We notice you missing very easily, so your plan to avoid us failed." Tam mumbled something that sounded like "we aren't missed, apparently" and looked down. Biana's gaze softened as she said, "Tam, you're important too. It's just that Lady Sophie here thought she could get away. It's not like you're unimportant!" *repetitive?* Tam blushed and thanked her, while Glimmer suspiciously looked envious. Sophie entered the house to meet her inevitable doom. She really shouldn't have.
