Rumour has it that Paris is one of the most Romantic places on Earth. Its somewhere you can go and all your troubles get whisked away. Where you fall in love, like in the movies, and live happily ever after. A place where your biggest dreams become a reality, and at the end, you lie underneath the stars in pure bliss without a care in the world. Lets just say that Paris had high expectations, and sure some of them were met. But others, they just turned into a nightmare.Thea Rose had always had big dreams. When she was little her whole class was asked what they wanted to be when they grew up. Some said teachers, others said vets and couple of people said police offers or firefighters. Yet for as long as she can remember, Thea wanted to be a fashion designer. Not any old designer though. Thea wanted to be a designer for one of the biggest clothing brands in the world, Dwaref Boutique. As you can imagine, the look on her teachers face was incredulous! How could a little girl have such have massive dreams? Thea didn't listen to all those that doubted her though, she knew that if she worked hard enough she would make it, so she never gave up. As she grew up, Thea started to have more friends. She was known in school as the 'trend setter" as everyone wanted to look and be like her. She didn't need much makeup to look beautiful, it was natural to her. She had flawless olive skin, covered in freckles that made up the dot to dot of her face. Her messy chestnut brown hair, always new the perfect place to fall to make her look beautiful, and her style was so unique, no one could compare. Girls were often jealous of Thea and the way she looked, but Thea didn't mind. She took every negative comment in her stride, and took them as compliments instead of insults. Her unique style portrayed through her textiles' work, so it wasn't a surprise that she came out of the exam with the highest grade the school had ever seen. This only made the jealousy worst though, she used to hear the girls call her a show off or a snob, but she knew that wasn't true. She will never forget the day the email came in that she got the job in France. It wasn't a big job mind, only an intern, but it was an intern at her dream brand and that's all that mattered to her. She was finally going to Paris.
Thea had never been far away from her family before, she daren't. Even when she went to university she was still only a half an hour drive away. Family was everything to her, they were the only ones that didn't laugh or smirk when she told them her dreams. It was always her, her mum Lyndsay, her dad Jon and her older sister Lilia. Lilia was only a year older than Thea so they acted more like twins. They used to borrow each others clothes, have makeovers and sleep in each others rooms. Even though they were sisters, Lilia didn't look anything like Thea. Thea had her dads genes and Lilia had her mums. Lilia had short auburn hair that was often tied half up half down, and fair ivory skin. The only similarity between them was their coral green eyes, and freckles covering each of their faces. Since the beginning they were always supportive. Her mum used to say to her "Thea, if that's what you want to do you need to work hard for it, but me and your dad will be there with you every step of the way"
Something about her mother's words had always been reassuring to Thea, she had confidence that her family would always be there. The travel to the airport was long and tiresome. Thea was feeling so many emotions that even her sisters rambling on about her boyfriend drama couldn't distract her. Lilia and her boyfriend Zac had been dating on and off for three years, and there was always drama. Even though Thea loved to hear about it, something about their relationship had made Thea wonder if she was too independent for a boyfriend. Even the Drama couldn't distract her today though, she couldn't even focus on the bag in front of her never mind her sisters relationship troubles. Thea had never been a fan of flying, but normally she had the company of her sister to distract her. When they were little they used to squeeze each other hands, close their eyes and hold there breath when the plane began to take off. The fact that Thea knew she couldn't do that this time round made her stomach turn. Her mum and dad helped her through baggage. They were there over an hour as the woman in front was complaining about not being in first class. Then they were an hour in security and by the time they got to duty free, they were all starving. Throughout this process her dad wouldn't stop moaning about how unorganized the airport was, and how in his day they would get through security in 10 minutes. Thea was used to this, so stopped listening all together!
Finally Thea made it to her gate, her flying bag in one hand and her boarding pass in the other. As she said her final good byes to her family she felt her eyes flooding with tears, though her mum was already crying, as she brought Thea into a tight hug. This was nothing new to Thea, her mum had always been emotional. Whether it was a heartwarming birthday card, or a pleasing comment, her mum always used to end up in tears. As the hug broke away, Thea wiped her eyes, turned around and headed for the gate.
This was it, she thought. The moment that she had worked so very hard for, it was finally happening. For a minute, all the butterflies that had been fluttering around in her stomach had gone, and all she felt was pure excitement.
Paris here I come.
