As she walked down the corridor to her apartment, she couldn't help thinking of the boy that she just met. His slightly arrogant attitude and his cocky smile. Somehow she couldn't get him out of her head, and she hated it.
Thea trudged down to where her apartment was, the corridor seems like it goes on for miles when you are carrying 5 heavy bags, and with each step she took, the bags seemed to be getting heavier and heavier. Finally she got to apartment, numbered 577, with a sigh of relief she put down her bags, got out her key and unlocked the door. As she pushed it open the sight of the apartment made her stop dead in her tracks. Nothing that she had ever imagined could compare to what she was seeing, and the feelings that she felt. Rustic wooden floors ran along all the way through the apartment to the wood grey kitchen, that look slightly vintage, which she loved . Shiny white walls made the apartment look bigger than it actually was, and the windows placed all around made the light from Paris come flooding in. Hung around the apartment were pictures of all the best fashion designers the world had ever seen, And most of them were Thea's idols. Coco channel, Vivian Westwood and even Flair Dwaref , the original founder of Dwarefs boutique, hung proudly looking over the apartment and all its glory. Thea had never seen anything more beautiful in her life, and she was amazed that this apartment was actually hers.As she walked in, she put her key down on the glass table and looked into the living room to find a girl sat down on the worn-down sofa. She was a Latina girl with long black glossy ringlets which shaped her contoured face perfectly. Her deep brown eyes sparkled in the sunlight and her smile could light up any dark room. As she stood up she moved her hair out of her face and started to walk towards Thea. Something about the girl made Thea feel very intimidated, like she could somehow see right into her soul and find out exactly what she was feeling. As she got closer, Thea started to smell the sweet perfume that the girl was wearing, getting a waft of it every step she took. Thea's insecurity made her feel like that girl was already judging her, but she tried to convince herself that it was just her mind playing tricks on her. As the girl stood there she opened her mouth making Thea feel very nervous, however she just came out with
"Hi.. nice to meet you, my names Sofía Pérez," Thea felt a weight lifted of her shoulders when she said this and replied
"Hi, my names Thea Rose, lovely to meet you." Thea instantly knew that Sofía wasn't French, and got the feeling that she was from the USA, but thought at this point it wasn't the right time to ask. Sofia proceeded to make conversation with Thea stating "I guess we are roommates, are you doing the intern job?" Thea was confused, she didn't know there was more than one person that got the job, nor the fact that she had a roommate. But she just smiled and said "yes I got the intern job, I didn't know there was more than one of us starting new." Sofia chuckled to herself, which made Theas nerves increase until she felt she could no longer control the butterflies. The girl just replied however with, "oh no, I couldn't do fashion to save my life, have you seen what I have on?" What the girl said made sense, she clearly had no sense of what colours match, but Thea quite liked her quirky style, it made her stand out from the normal person. Before Thea had the time to ask what she was doing here, Sofía had picked up her bags and said
"I'll show you to your room, I already picked mine out I hope you don't mind," Thea nodded her head and followed the girl back past the kitchen and through the first door on the left.In the room there was a grand double bed sat right at the center, with a grey poof at the end. Opposite the bed was a large TV, sat on top of a table and a full length mirror stood proudly next to it. The shiny white walls had carried on into the bedroom, and the same rustic wooden floors still lay on the floor. Through the door next to the Mirror was an on suit bathroom which lead on to her very own walk in wardrobe. A huge double walk in shower greeted you as you walked in, and on the other side there was a relaxing bath surrounding by different plants, looking over the Paris streets below. And If you looked hard enough, you could just about see the Eiffel Tower glistening in the distance.
As she walked out of the bathroom back into her bedroom, Sofía was sat on the bed taking the clothes out of Thea's suitcase and folding them into nice neat piles. As she looked up, Thea could just about catch a nervous glimpse in Sofía's eye and before she could say anything, she spoke "I hope you don't find this rude, I just thought I could give you a head start on unpacking." Thea could tell that she meant well so answered kindly "no I don't mind at all, I appreciate the help, and plus I can't fold as neatly as you." Sofía burst into laughter and sat back on the bed and continued folding Thea's clothes. " I never asked you what your doing in Paris, have you been here long," Thea asked, intrigued to know more about her new roommate. "oh, I have been in Paris for three years, I came to start my painting career, but its not exactly working out," Thea could tell that these words upset the girl, so decided to change the topic of conversation. "Have you had a roommate before then," asked Thea, not knowing what else to say. Sofia lifted her head, looked at Thea, smiled and said "no - but the rent was getting on top of me and I saw a leaflet on the streets that Dwarefs was looking for their intern to have a roommate, so I volunteered." Thea was grateful for that, she knew that if Sofia hadn't, she probably wouldn't have this luxurious apartment and the amazing view of Paris. She also may have been stuck with an annoying or arrogant person, like the boy she saw earlier and she knew that, that wouldn't have lasted very long. Sofia smiled stood up and started placing her clothes in the wardrobe next to the window, as Thea started unpacking her belongings and making her room look and smell like home.
After spending about an hour unpacking, Sofía walked out of the room, leaving Thea in her thoughts. As she looked around the room her heart felt so full. She couldn't believe that a girl could fall in love with a city so quickly, and form an attachment that couldn't break. She laid down on her bed and stared out the windows, looking at the Paris streets bursting with all different types of people and finally knew that this was where she belonged.
