Chapter Two

"Owl!!!" Snowflake shrieked. She scrambled to her paws and ran as fast as she could; before bumping into something- or someone.

"Watch where you're going, brat!" Called a cranky voice. As soon as Snowflake regained her balance, a strange wolf whipped around to face her, teeth bared. "Go play somewhere else!"

"I-I'm sorry... Rhinestone? Right? Oh um, have you seen my sister? Snowy Owl? Small, white, blue eyes?" Snowflake stammered, backing up.

The Omega rolled her eyes. "Honey, you just described half of Wintershade. The other half are small, silver, blue eyes." (Get the reference?)

"Oh- but I'm sure you could recognize her! She came to give you prey, right?"

Rhinestone snorted. "I haven't had food in days, all thanks to that selfish rat that calls himself the Alpha."

Hmm. Maybe Owl didn't come here. Or maybe Rhinestone just didn't see her. Snowflake shifted her paws. "Alright... we'll tell me if you see her, ok? Snowy Owl. Or just Owl- but sometimes mother calls her Snowy, but her and I like Ow-"

"You talk too much, kid. Get out."

Snowflake politely nodded- without saying a word- and respectfully backed out of the den. Great, no herbs, now no Owl!

When things seemed like they couldn't get any worse, Snowflake heard a rustling noise in the entrance to camp. The scent of Autumnshade filled her nose, and black fur breaking into camp went along with it. Yowls of fury suddenly filled Snowflake's ears, adding to the headache that was starting to build.

She attacks

She fails

She listens

She helps

No no, STOP IT! There's a wolf breaking into camp! Snowflake shook her head and blinked twice, and was transported back to real life. She prepared to leap on the attacker, but, oh no-

She attacks,

She FAILS

She listens,

She HELPS

Oh, I get it, spooky vision. Snowflake sat back up, shaking her fur. "Everybody wait! What if he has something to say! Nobody's behind him!"

All the Winterwolves seemed to freeze in place. Almost every gaze turned to Snowflake, then the Autumnwolf, then Snowflake again.

Polar Bear cleared his throat, and barked "Snowflake is right; maybe he is a messenger." He turned his sharp blue eyes to the Autumnwolf. "What do you have to say?"

"What in the Shades are you saying!" Called a voice from the crowd, before the messenger could speak. Wiry silver and white paws stepped out, followed by a beautiful white-and-silver-spotted Winterwolf. "Polar Bear, may I politely inject, he could be a spy! Look at his face!"

"Snow Flurry, calm down. Let him speak." Polar Bear scolded.

The red wolf stepped up. "I promise, this is very urgent! There is a new Springshade/ Summershade war! We must act quickly! Our Alpha, Red Leaf, has already made battle preparations and war squads! All we need is Wintershade!" He spoke in a quick, organized way that made Snowflake's paws itch.

Shocked and scared whispers erupted in the camp. Polar Bear jumped down in front of the Autumnshade fighter. "One thing at a time, please. What is your name?"

"Vampire Bat. Just Bat though, please," he replied.

Polar Bear nodded. "And a war? Why?"

"Summershade says Springshade has something of theirs." Bat shifted his paws, shivering, from the cold, Snowflake guessed.

"So this is Springshade's fault!" Snow Flurry spoke up. "We can team up with Summershade!" She broke through the crowd to stand beside Polar Bear.

"Snow Flurry, I respect your opinion as Beta," The Alpha said.

"YES!"

"But we can't get in a war right now. Everyone is already weak as it is. I'm sorry, Bat, but we have to decline. Tell Red Leaf we said no."

Polar Bear was about to head into his den, when Snow Flurry spoke up. "But- eventually the war will  come to us! The sooner we get in it, the sooner it's over." She argued.

"No, the sooner we get in it, the sooner we lose. I say no, and that's final"

Great. First I lose my sister, now a flippin war is starting!? Snowflake was exhausted, it had been a long day. The sun was setting, bringing in the evening chill. "Ahem... Vamp- I mean Bat- maybe you should go back to Autumnshade?"

The red wolf nodded and slipped out of camp. Soon everyone started to go back to their caves and dens, and Snowflake did as well. Her den was on the north side of camp, where the more important wolves stayed, since her mother was the healer. Inside, she had decorated it with pine nettles and holly leaves; and in the center laid a surprisingly warm moss bed.

Snowflake laid down and drifted off into a deep sleep.

Snowflake slept in a long time, when she got up the sun was almost half way up. As she was blinking open her eyes and stepping out of the den, she came face-to-face with Snow Flurry. "Oh! Hello, Snow Flurry!"

"Yeah, hi Snowflake. Anyway... listen. Ice Spike, Holly Berry, and I are going to spy on Summershade later. You're coming. Beta's orders." She left before Snowflake could speak up, wearing a cheesy smile that clashed with her elegant fur.

Snowflake nodded, trying to process the words. Was that an order from Polar Bear? Or was it another one of Snow Flurry's crazy ideas?

I just wish I could find Owl- I hope she's okay, Snowflake thought, getting ready to set out on this possibly dangerous journey.

Word Count: 911 (WHAT is WITH these NUMBERS? FIRST 1234 now 911? Am I crazy lucky or unlucky?)

Hey guys! Thanks for all the views!
