You weren't there

You make a good impression
a smile that you choose.
And when the others fade your smile
you cry for a while

You see, the crying is the laughter
of a sad and miserable host
you make a good impression
but will never leave your post

this is it,
what life had become
the pain washed over you
and you were overcome

The pain became a monster
and I watched you fall apart that day
in a bad and angry way
you cried and screamed
and were being so mean.

i woke up after it all
hoping you would be there
so i would be the one to call you
and tell you that it is fair
That you weren't in the wrong
when you screamed and asked why you didn't belong

but
you weren't there that day
I looked forward to seeing that smile on your face
instead i was met with a policeman
a frown in his place

you didn't come to school that day
and I never got to tell you it would be okay.
