' Well , I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way
. . .
My girl , my girl , my girl
Talkin' 'bout my girl '

Soft whispers brushed past her slightly parted lips, matching the hums of the quiet lyrics. Music played from the small radio on the table to her left, accompanying the sound of the gentle thumping of thick paper against the surface. Mastering the small action in shuffling the playing cards — taught by her late father, a satisfied sigh left her lips as a low whistle erupted from running her thumb over the width of the deck. Gingerly setting the cards in the middle of the table, between she and her younger sister, Prim used her knuckles to push it towards her. The blonde leaned forward in her seat, shifting to rest on her knees to match Prim's height. With her smaller fingers, she slid the deck off of the table and into her grasp.

Blue Bennett eyes squinted softly, portraying a look of innocent concentration paired with her bottom lip between her teeth. Teddy slid one card from the deck and placed it faced down. She repeated this action for two different stacks until each held seven cards in total. Finishing it off, she placed the drawing deck back in the middle, preparing for battle. Readjusting in her seat, the youngest of the two carefully picked up one stack — cautious not to peek at the cards — and handed them to her sister. Prim gracefully slid them into her grasp, studying them quickly before she placed down the one and only set of matches she had — a nice pare of Ace of Spades.

Teddy mimicked her actions. Once the two had declared ready for their third match of the night with a shared nod, Prim's voice spoke over the soft lyrics that singsonged from the radio. ". . . You first." Teddy's attention averted to her cards and she thought heavily about her next move. Unlike Prim, her individual stack of cards called for no matches, leaving her in the losers bracket for the moment.

Her index finger and thumb pinched a single card, separating it from her deck. "Do you have a three?" Blonde eyebrows quirked. Prim pressed her lips together shortly with a shake of her head. Teddy frowned. Her three went straight back to join the other six cards in her hand.

"Gold —" A sound echoed through the building, catching Prim's entire focus immediately. Her shoulders tensed, eyes snapping towards Teddy who seemed to not quite acknowledge her sister's suspicious gaze. Too busy with organizing her cards into numerical order, she was completely unaware of the sudden shift in the air. Prim's feet fell from her chair — knees once to her chest. She straightened in her seat with her hand instantly finding the off button on the radio, ultimately sending a gust of silence through the old home. Teddy's eyes just then trained towards the brunette in mild concern, watching closely at the way Prim's head tilted in search for another sound.
