It was a rainy night, the thunder kept on bragging its growling roar so as the lightning kept on showing its mighty light. The moon and stars were nowhere to be found. I can still clearly remember how wasted I was that night. At a waiting shed, I was alone grieving for the love I'd lost. I was desperately sitting like a lost child, praying that he will pick me up, but again I lost. At that moment I wanted to be like the stars, I wanted to be hidden, to disappear for a while. I wanted to be like the thunder, I wanted to be heard. I wanted to be like the lightning, I wanted to bravely struck with my light the people who put me in this despair, in darkness. But, I'd became the night sky. The night sky that's nothing left to do but to cry.
Then, he came unexpectedly perfect. When I was at my worst after being left alone by the love of my life, he appeared like a knight in shining armor with no sword, but an umbrella instead. I suddenly forgot about the reality, and entered in the world of fantasy where there's no sorrow and darkness, only happiness and colorful lights.
He offered me his handkerchief, tapped my shoulder, and said, "Tahan na, everything will be alright". Then, "Kimmon" he said as he offered me his hand. "Copter", I replied as I reached his hand. He looked at my swollen eyes, then he smiled.
His smile, how can I forget that therapeutic, addictive smile.
His scent. His scent brought me nostalgia. It felt like home.
After a moment, he went by and left me alone, again. "Hey, your handkerchief", I shouted at him after realizing I was still holding his plain yellow colored handkerchief.
He stopped from walking then faced me and shouted back, "No, it's yours now. Mas kailangan mo yan." He smiled, waved at me, and continued to walked at the direction away from me.
I stared at the handkerchief for few seconds, and at the right corner near the hem of the handkerchief I saw an embroidered word, padayon. The word was very familiar to me but I couldn't clearly remember the exact meaning of it. Then I searched it after the curiosity crept disturbing me unstoppably. Padayon means to continue on, to move forward.
Then I remembered his voice saying, mas kailangan mo yan.
Padayon.
Ika'y magpatuloy.
