Lunchtime rolled around, and she found Flora with her friends outside the canteen. She joined them in the queue, and she chose to eat the chicken mayo sandwich, a bar of something called 'Hershey's: Cookies and Cream' with a can of Coca-Cola. She joined Flora, Pink Phone, Arm Grabber and Wide Eyes at their table. They were engaged in yet another conversation about her brother. But the topic changed after some pleading on Flora and Alexa's parts.
"So," Wide Eyes began, dragging out the 'o', "Flora, when are you going to do it?"
"Yeah," Pink Phone continued, "we've all done it. You said you would, with Conrad. And you never did. It's kind of hard covering up that you're still a virgin." Alexa knew exactly what they were talking about, but she was shocked at how Flora's friends were pushing her into something that was valued as precious and special in The Know.
Flora was blushing and looking at her food in embarrassment, clearly trying to formulate an excuse in her mind.
"I don't think I want to lose it to Conrad; he's a bit of a jerk, apparently."
"Well, then," Arm Grabber replied, "do it with hot British boy. He's probably done it with loads of girls." Wrong, wrong, wrong, Alexa thought to herself, Parker wouldn't ever do that to a girl. As Flora began to protest, Alexa excused herself and took herself, her chocolate and her Cola someplace her brother wasn't being talked about. She walked out of the canteen and strolled around the grounds, wishing that there was an archery club at the school. She found Blake sitting by himself under a tree, and she joined him. He looked startled to see her actually wanting to socialise with him, but made space for her none the less. Alexa noticed that he sort of bowed his head, so that she wouldn't be able to see his entire face when his hair fell into it.
"What brings you to the dejected spot beneath the dejected tree?" He asked.
"Annoying girls sexualising my brother." She sighed.
"You mean Flora's clique." He replied solemnly. Alexa nodded, and found herself looking at his t-shirt. The symbol was a triangle, with a circle inside it. A line ran down the middle of it.
"What is that? On your shirt?" She asked. Blake looked down at it and then back at her, slightly widening his deep blue eyes.
"This? It's the Deathly Hallows."
"The what?"
"From Harry Potter."
"Is that a shop?" Blake almost gasped in shock, and stared at her in horror.
"You don't know Harry Potter?" Alexa felt extremely stupid, and she began to grow hot in embarrassment.
"No." She whispered.
"You need help." Alexa flashed him a hurt expression. He saw it and held his hands up in the air beside his head in an 'I surrender' position.
"As in movie marathon help." He clarified.
"I've known you for less than a day and you want a movie marathon?" She asked; he seemed quite the unsociable type.
"No, not with me. I can lend you the DVDs." He rolled his eyes, but Alexa could see the tinge of pink that was present in his cheeks, "jeez, where have you been for the last decade?" Alexa couldn't help but wonder who he reminded her of. Fair enough question, she thought.
"Erm...okay. I'll watch them." She agreed, and Blake smiled at her, showing her his dimples.
"We need to start the presentation this weekend." She insisted suddenly. He ran a hand through inky black hair, tousling it a bit.
"At yours, or at mine?" He replied, raising an eyebrow. Alexa thought about it; she wouldn't be able to concentrate with Parker and Flora's constant arguing.
