Chapter 13 - tension"Okay got it." Umberto said as he was showing where to get the cleaning stuff.
"Yeah."
"Great , you can start with the kitchen and the dining room." he said leaving me to do it all myself now.
This is my first day at work, and it's not too bad; the only thing I dislike is the bathroom. I grabbed the cleaning supplies and went to work; things were going well between me and Romero. He would frequently stay in his room or office, but he would also go out late and return late. I apprehended him a few nights ago. I didn't want to see him because he looked tired and almost hurt, and I didn't want to see him because he knew that I was spying on him.
After I finished cleaning, I wanted to go somewhere other than the bookstore. I was aware that there was a cafe nearby. I was dressed in a white bloues with my hair up, and as I walked down the aisle, I felt eyes on me. I turned around to see Romero approaching me.
"Hello and good evening." His voice made me wet, and his eyes made me feel as if they were undressing me.
"Good evening, I was just walking across the street to the cafe."
"Have a good time." His gaze was fixed on a piece of paper, but he was dressed up today, as if he were going on a date. Was he, what was I supposed to care, he just shuts me out?
I took a seat on a chair in the cafe near one of the sidewalks as I walked down the street. I was sipping my coffee when a small hand reached out and yanked on my shrit, I turned around to see a small boy vying for my attention.
"Well, hello there," I said courteous.
"Um, you are pretty." I was flattered by his gesture of handing me a rose. I kept an eye on the little boy to see where he was going, and his mother was sitting nearby, calling him to come. I went over to speak with them.
"Hey, thank you for the rose." I rubbed the little boy's hair."Well, I noticed you were sad, so I wanted to cheer you up, and with a little boy like him, you can't say no." Her smile was as bright as her son, who was adorable.
"If you don't mind, I'd like to join you."
"Of course, I desperately need to talk to someone." I took a seat across from her and her son."Oh, sorry, my name is Sophe, and this is Harry."
"Nice to meet you both, my name is Rosa."
"So, Rosa, I see you live with Remero Vitiello."
"How do you know that?" I was perplexed.
"Well, word gets around when the hottest man in town as a woman." The hottest man did other girls like him as much as I do.
"I had no idea it was that oviese." I exclaimed, laughing.
"So, what's the deal with you two? Are you dating?" I smiled at the thought of it.
"Not at all, I just work for him."
"That can't be, all the girls here say you're his "slut." The final word was small. I was aware of what others thought of me, but I was not prepared for this.
"But, seriously, you don't like him or think he's cute."
"I like him, but I don't think he likes me back."
"Are you serious?" Romero has never had a girl at his house, let alone spoken to one of the girls here. And now that you've arrived, all the girls are envious." I felt like I had won a game, but I hadn't even gotten past level one.
Sophe and I talked and talked until it was late. Sophe had a husband named Sam, but he died in the army, leaving her with only her son. I returned home and opened the door. When I heard a noise, I was walking near the kitchan. The door opened to reveal a wounded Romero, there was so much blood.
