A rooster's morning call sounded throughout the dark, small apartment followed by the teasing voice of Lupin III saying: "Rise and shine~! You've got a treasure to be stolen, Princess!"

The princess groaned as she had her butt perked up while her head was still buried in curls of hair and pillows. There was a pause, her silent battle against the bed's affection was what caused it; however, 3 minutes of battling finally got her head pulled out of the enemy's/lover's sweet clutches and a victorious smile stretched on her sleepy face.

Kyoko turned to her alarm clock with enthusiasm reading the usual digits that she'd been waking up to daily, "5:45 AM!"

'It was probably still dark out there and way too early for school,' Kyoko thought getting a hold of the curtains in search of any morning light.

Although 5 more minutes of sleep seemed like the last drop of chocolate in a chocolateless world, the highschooler had to get up and start with her daily routine before going to school.

Kyoko slipped her bare legs out of bed and made a bee-line to the bathroom. After brushing her teeth and washing her face, she sneaked a peek at her reflected image on the mirror. As if meeting an old friend, she gave herself a toothy, refreshing smile.

"Curls," she flipped her wild, curly hair.

"Freckles," her eyes dropped to the light-brown spots scattered on her cheeks.

"And your biggest smile, Kyoko!" She pointed at her reflection and smiled widely.

Unable to lower her excitement and burst of optimism, she took a deep breath and placed her hands on her cheeks while exhaling a giggle. This human being couldn't be happier. Her life had finally took a turn for the better. Right after four years of agony, she's finally out there on her own.

A free spirit.

Kyoko couldn't believe that she'd been going like this to school for the past two weeks. No concealer, no makeup, no lenses and no hair straighteners.

Just Kyoko.

In all of her natural glory, except that she doesn't actually go to school with those out-of-control curls. She tames them...

Leaving her thoughts behind, the curly head nodded to a now determined image of herself, wrapped her hair in a bun and rushed out of the bathroom.

She slipped on her shorts, wore her hoodie, sneakers and glasses to start her day. Now completely ready, she walked out of her apartment into the dimly-lit, cool day and headed to her fabulous bicycle.

With that fabulousness she shall ride to her favourite place, the local market.

There, she meets the old woman that provides her with some goodies to be delivered in this time of day. What could they be?

Milk and newspaper.
