"so call the mainland from the beach, your heart is now washed up in the bleach.

the waves are rising for this time of year and nobody knows what to do with the heat.

under sunshine pylons we'll meet while rain is falling, like rhinestones from the sky.."

RHINESTONE EYES

BY

GORILLAZ

[Y/N's POV - 2nd Person]

I cried into my pillow, the tears overflowing, choking me. I know I completely bunked off school but it's whatever. I don't give a fuck anymore at this point.

I fell asleep for a while before I heard a door open downstairs.

Angela is at work...
Jaeden is at school...

My heart started beating incredibly fast, threatening to jump out of my chest. I quickly stood up, grabbing the closest thing to my which was my key. I held it close to my body, pointing it forward.

I slowly opened my bedroom door with a click that I winced at and hoped whoever was downstairs didn't hear it.
There was clashing of cups and plates coming from the kitchen. I slowly tiptoed down the stairs, skipping the creaky steps.

I could hear grunts and water splashing on the floor. I crept behind a wall that separates the kitchen and living room. I poke my head around the wall to see-

"JAEDEN?!" My voice was full of shock and relief. He swivelled around, a goofy grin on his face. I walked closer to him before quickly backing away.

I pinched my nose and gagged.

"Are you seriously drunk at.." I stopped to check the time on my watch. "11:30 in the morning?!"

"Yupity doo da!" He chuckled. I groaned and rolled my eyes. Still pinching my nose, I went over to him grabbing his arm pulling him away from the water that I guessed he had used to try sober himself up.

I sat him down on the sofa while I cleaned up the kitchen. By the time I finished and turned around he was heading upstairs, stumbling and using the hand rail for support.

I quickly rushed after him before he fell. I walked him to his room and laid him down on the bed before leaving to my room. I picked up my book from my wardrobe, I hide it in there so no one ever finds it.

I was reading as I heard the turning of the handle to my door. I rushed to stuff the book under my pillow and closed my eyes, pretending to sleep.

I heard the door open and footsteps along the floor. I hoped he would leave quickly but instead, things took an unexpected turn.

The sheets ruffled and I felt more weight press down on the bed and he last next to me. I froze as he pulled the cover over us and snuggled up to me. He still reeked of alcohol but as he cuddled me, I subconsciously cuddled back, snuggling my head next to his chest.

I'm not sure how long we stayed like that before we both fell asleep but by the time we woke up, Angela still wasn't back and it was now raining heavily.

It was very awkward as we both opened our eyes. I was the first one to move away and into the bathroom to wash my face.

When I got back into the bedroom, my heart dropped.

He was holding my book.

I looked at the book, at his face and back to the book. He was smirking at me with a smug expression. I ran over to grab the book but he pulled it out of my reach. He was a lot taller than me.

"Jaeden. Give me the book." I said with clenched teeth.

"Oh of course yes. Only after you tell me what it's about first." He knew what he was doing and I hated him.

"Give me my FUCKING book!" I said before getting on the bed and snatching out of his grasp. I threw it in a bag and grabbed my yellow raincoat.

He was shocked at my tone of voice that I was able to do this while he stared after me.

Whole stomping down the stairs I put on the raincoat scruffily before leaving the house, with my hood up.

I ran past shops and house as the water ran with me, dampening my shoes and socks. I stopped when I got a long way out of town.  I stopped on a some stairs. I sat down, not caring that the water soaked my clothes.

My hair was dripping wet and so was everything else that wasn't protected by my clothes.

I was embarrassed that Jaeden had found my book. It was plainly obvious what it was about. And on top of that, everything that has been going on with my mother.

It just gets too much. I let my head hang and my mustard coloured raincoat falls off my shoulders, meaning the rain has now completely soaked me, making me look like I've been in a swimming pool, fully clothed.

I lay my head back against the steps and close my eyes as the rain drops on the concrete around me.

[3rd Person POV]

It was a funny sight. A young girl in barely any clothing and a raincoat laying on a flight of steps. Soon enough, a young boy her age would come running and see her. Suddenly, everything would click. They would realise how perfect they were for each other, no matter how many arguments and fights.
