I sigh as I stare out of the floor to cieling glass windows. The sandy shore is relentless smacked by smooth waves. The sun is bright, and no one is nearby, for miles. I wanted to be in the middle of nowhere, and my parents inheritance, plus my grandparents inheritance allowed me to live in their old vacation home. I decide to go to the water, and change into a bathing suit.

My body is revealed, with curves in all the right places. I grab a towel, putting sunscreen on, and running out to the sand. I sit down on my towel, my legs crossed in front of me. I lay back, deciding to tan a little. I stare at the sky, unable to help falling asleep. I keep my feet in the water. ... I wake up to singing, and someone playing with my hair. I shoot up, my vision blurry form sleep, to see someone jump in the water and swim away. "Wait!" I yell. "Come back!" What worries me is the person never resurfaces. I stare at the water for hours, waiting for them again. As the sky darkens, I send one last look at the waters, before walking back inside. I take a shower to clean, and change into an oversized shirt and shorts. I head to the kitchen, turning on music as I cook dinner. My thoughts are plagued with the mysterious person. Who were they? Where did they go? Why didnt they come back up? Could they be- No. Mermaids dont exist. I watch a movie before bed, trying to clear my mind. Before I snuggle In the covers, my phone rings. I answer. It's my cousin Mingi. "Yo, what ar you doing?" He asks. "I'm about to go to sleep." I say. "You should too, you have school tomorrow right?" "Yea yea." He laughs. "Call you tomorrow Y/N." I open my laptop, hesitating before typing in mermaids in the search bar. Many articles and sites pop up, I click the first. Mermaids are amazing creatures of the sea. Half human, with a fish like tail, they are said to be extremelybeautiful. They are oftenmistaken with their relatives, the Sirens. Sirens are most often females, and their singing lures humans to their death. It will put you in a trance like state, drowning you. I shut my laptop. Whoever was with me, If they were a mer person, they weren't a siren. Their singing was nice, and I wand tin a trance. I sigh, huddling under the covers, and closing my eyes.
