Coldplay - Us Against The World

The tightrope that I'm walking just sways and ties

The devil as he's talking with those angel's eyes

And I just wanna be there when the lightning strikes

And the saints go marching in

Mitis Town was wildly different to Rosecove City, in the sense of that where instead of a beachfront view, you had a bunch of houses in one area, all coloured red with three places being a bit further away from the houses, those being The Pokémon Lab, the Dig Site, the third the start of Route 1.

Everyone knew each other more closely here than in Rosecove, and it was like this one big family somehow.

Well, that was a lie.

(Y/n) only knew their next-door neighbours and the Pokémon Professor of the region, the rest of the people being mere acquaintances. Yeah, the other people would chat to them on occasion, but that would be few and almost always awkward, despite (Y/n) being in the town for an extra 6 years.

It was mid to late morning, the sun beginning to peek out from the very few clouds that floated around. The 16-year old (Y/n) had just woken and gone outside for a walk, bored as heck out of their mind. Broze was still asleep, not knowing quite yet the day had come to get their starters.

Not knowing what else to do, (Y/n) began walking towards The Pokémon Lab, which was coloured white and had a space of its own, with the 16-year old kid wearing a jacket, shirt and pants, or just anything that would suit just fine for their clothing tastes. Opening the door into the building, they looked over at one of the lab-coat clad people, who was studying a book near the bookshelf on the opposite wall to the door.

Hearing footsteps in the next room over, curiosity took over as (Y/n) walked in. Professor Cypress and his Assistant David stood nearby some boxes, each labelled with a different region name, varying in quantity.

''(Y/n)?'' Professor Cypress turned to the 16-year old teen, raising an eyebrow. ''What are you doing in here?''

''Bored.'' The teen replied simply, looking at the boxes presumed to have the Pokéballs of starter Pokémon from different regions, except for one in particular.

''Professor, they have once again refused our request to receive the Galar region starters.'' Assistant David informed him, putting away a device into his pocket as the Pokémon Professor sighed in frustration.

''Nevermind that then. Well, (Y/n), would you like to help us sort the starter Pokémon?'' Cypress questioned, and the aforementioned teen nodded.

As (Y/n) helped, the Pokémon Professor would talk, well, not that much, but when he did he usually talked about Pokémon or even some other stuff. But there was one thing he said that shocked (Y/n).

''I have known a few people who have abused their Pokémon, one, in particular, a former friend of mine. It breaks my heart to know this. You may have even met her in person.''

The 16-Year old looked at him, seeing him wearing a grim expression on his face, they then accidentally picked up a Pokéball, distracted by their thoughts of the past.

''Still, I have my hopes for a better world for Pokémon and people.'' He added, and there was an odd gleam in his eyes that (Y/n) couldn't quite identify. He then was quiet, and the kid looked down at their hand, seeing a Pokéball with a water symbol on it, and the word Hoenn labelled on it.
