Chapter 1: Children's Play
One of my earliest memories was this beach. Brighton. The famous pier fixed in the middle of the azure blue sea, lapping waves and the crisp spring mornings. I spent these picturesque moments with my best friend, and soul mate and, well first love.
We had no choice but to be best friends, and I wasn’t complaining. Our mum’s had worked together in the "peak of their youth" (as my mum would say) in Sussex, and then things changed,Anne moved away to Cheshire, and settled down with her young baby girl, Gemma and it was not too long until harry was on the scene. His mother and mine were inseparable, even living almost 4 hours away from each other wouldn’t keep them apart. But this distance meant nothing to us. I saw Harry every holiday, and every free minute I had I spent with him.. So I was rather used to moments like this. Where we would chase each otheracross pebbles on the sea-shore and race each other into the water. Children's play.
Every girl remembers her first kiss. It’s just one of those things that never leaves your memory, even in some circumstances if you want it to. I was 12. And well, I don’t really know if it classified as a kiss.
Me and my best friend were sat on the beach, wrapped in woolly grey blankets. My mum and Anne had gone to get ice cream (although we were already chilled to the bone) leaving Harry and I to our own accord. It would have been so awkward if we weren’t best friends, but we sat in silence, watching the sun disappear behing the clouds.
“Have you ever been kissed Lucy?”
“No.” I blushed, looking down at the stones
“Can I see if you, if you are any good?” Harry shuffled awkwardly towards me, until he was practically sitting on me.
I agreed.
He did. And well I can’t really describe the feeling that rushed through me. But I didn’t have long to think about what just happened, because Harry burst into a fit of laughter.
“what?” I opened my eyes, and was brought back to the beach from this weird feeling I was in.
He got up, still amused by whatever was going on in his head, and ran to the water. I followed him and we played around in the shore, splashing each other, completely forgetting about the kiss. We ran further into the water, and he dragged me under the wave with him.
We stuck our heads out of the water and he stared through me, looking straight into my soul, like he always did. I don't know how he does it, but he looks straight through me.
“Are you wearing make up?” He said, picking up on the lines and smudges across my face
I had put it on especially for him; I thought he’d be impressed to see how much I’d grown up. I was almost 13 now.
“Because…I need it”
“haha, yes you do!”
“HEY!!” I said splashing him some more.
He ran out of the water, screaming. I followed him, again.
He threw my towel up at me, and I wrapped it around me, still shaking from the glacial temperature of the water. I sat down next to him, pulling off my t shirt and shorts, which exposed my swimming costume. I shuddered some more so Harry put his arms around me, which warmed me on the inside.
“I’m joking, you don’t need make-up. Please don’t wear it, you look like too grown up and that scares me.”
He pulled me over so that my head was rested on his cold shoulders.
That's the first chapter, not much of a cliff-hanger at the end, but i'm working on it...still an amateur so bare with me..
Okay, so leave comments...
Love you all <3
