George woke up the next morning with a pounding headache. He let out a groan and rolled over to face away from the bright rays of sunlight that were peeking through his bedroom window. His 11 am alarm should be going off soon, then he'd have to battle every sore muscle and bone in his body to get to work for his 2 pm start time.
He picked up his phone to check the time. 3:15 pm. He set his phone down and closed his eyes again. Wait. What the fuck?! George shot up out of bed, how had he slept through his alarm?! God, he was totally gonna get fired this time. He bathed himself in a nostril-burning cologne and hopped out of his bedroom on one foot as he attempted to slide on his pants. Only when he'd finished getting ready and looked like a complete mess did he notice the note taped to the inside of the front door.
'Hey Georgie
Walked into your room this morning and you looked like shit:) so I turned off your alarm and took your early shift so you could get some sleep.
-Sap
P.s. Bring me a taco.'
George groaned as he allowed himself to slide down the door onto the cold floor. He felt a wave of anger, relief, soreness, and fatigue all at the same time. He summed it up as hunger and traipsed into the kitchen to eat away his emotions. He smiled to himself. Nick would always have his back, that was a fact. The two boys had been through a lot together and although most of the time they sucked at showing any kind of affection, they were brothers.
He munched on some leftover pasta and retreated back to the bathroom to properly get ready for work. Looking in the mirror, he examined the purple and yellowy bruise that now covered under right his eye and cheek. He gingerly moved his hand to his face to trace over the tender area, wincing as he applied a little pressure.
"Fuck that stupid asshole, I hope he never comes back," George growled.
This was of course a lie.
George couldn't help but be curious about the lavender-scented stranger's identity. He checked the time, almost 4 pm. He'd need to leave a little early to pick Sapnap up his taco.
George loaded his wallet and a change of clothes into his backpack before slinging it over his shoulder and walking out the door. At least he could function enough to ride a bike this morning. By the time he arrived at work, taco in hand, it was half an hour until opening. He walked through the swinging doors where he was greeted by an exhausted Sapnap.
"Good morning sleeping beauty how ya feeling? He asked with a smile.
"I don't know whether to punch you or kiss you right now," George replied.
"Oh, c'mon Georgie give me a kiss." Sapnap pleaded, puckering his lips and leaning close to George.
"Fuck off weirdo." George laughed, pushing Sap's face away.
"Put your mouth to better use." He said, holding out the foil-wrapped taco to his friend.
Sapnap's face lit up with joy. He let out a noise of pleasure as he took the beautiful, edible commodity. The heat of the taco seeped through the foil and onto Sapnap's hands, sending a warm sensation trickling up his arms and through the rest of his body. He took his time to carefully unwrap it, moments like this were to be savored, enjoyed. He closed his eyes and inhaled the smell, his nostrils trained to pick apart and enjoy the scent of each ingredient that went into making this masterpiece. He opened his eyes to absorb the artful display in front of him and took the time to imprint the image into his brain. The hard-shelled taco filled with bits of seasoned ground beef, melting grated cheese, fresh shredded lettuce, pungent slivers of purple onion, a dollop of sour cream and smeared in spicy green guacamole. Sapnap cupped the taco gently in his hands as he slowly lifted it to his lips, never once breaking eye contact. He sunk his teeth aggressively into the front of the taco and allowed his tongue to linger for just a moment in between the two walls of the shell. Nothing else mattered in this world. It was only him and his taco.
