The Rescue

Kalani's POV

Whelp, I'm going to die. It's better dying by falling off a cliff than being with Him, and dying by his hands.

As I accepted this fate, big strong arms wrapped around my waist and pulled me away from my doom. In a quick second, I am on the ground, and still have arms wrapped around me.

I start screaming and freaking out. "Aaahhh, GET OFF ME, GET OFF ME" I yell. As much as I scream and yell, the grip only tightens. At this point, I am crying my eyes out. He found me. He is going to punish me. They all will. But his will be worse.

"Shh, calm down sweetheart. I promise I'm not going to hurt you. Please stop yelling. I can't bear to see you yelling like this" A voice from behind me yelled. The same voice from earlier.

Oddly enough, this voice was soothing. The silkiness of this voice reminded me of rich and smooth honey, a nice, cold bottle of coke on a hot summer day. Instantly I stop crying and yelling. I don't like this. Why am I responding so easily to his voice? I don't like the control this voice has over my body.

After I have calmed down, the warm pair of arms wrapped around my waist remove themselves. As soon as they let go of me, I instantly backed away; making sure there is some distance between us. As I glanced at the man, I noticed he didn't look like him. He was really good-looking. He was a sun-kissed tan, almost like honey (like his voice), with dark-brown hair. He was wearing athletic shorts and a black tank-top that hugged his body really well. His arms were muscly and I fought the urge to blush. However, his arms weren't the things that drew me to him most, it was his eyes. They were beautiful, a mix between forest green and emerald. As I got lost in his eyes, I heard a faint voice in the back of my head.

"Mate"
