Chapter 3

Adeline completed her task for the headmaster in a flash, her thought wondered to Abraxis and how he was going with the gnomes, that thought alone had made her chuckle. After she finished Adeline did a routine hall check before her free period was over. She made her way to her next class. Unfortunately for her, it was defense against the dark arts with her new professor whom will be tutoring her.

Something just felt extremely off about the man, she could feel an aura of dark magic following him everywhere he went. She would know if he were around a corner or even in a room near her, she wondered if it was only her that picked up that vibe from him...

Although it wasn't the same dark magic her parents practised, his was darker...

Entering the classroom she glanced around the room and instantly spotted Hendrik sitting in the corner with a seat at the back where Abraxis herself and Hendrik usually sat, she wondered where Brax was

"Hey Chook"

Hendrix rolled his eyes at the nickname, he hated it, it was actually a rather clever nickname Adeline thought of one day, the group used to call him Hen for short and Adeline always thought of chickens, so she decided to call him Chook. Sitting down next to her friend she pulled out her appropriate books for the lesson and placed them on the table

"What's up with Rudolph"

Adeline glanced up and saw a sour-looking Abraxis storming over to them, he sat in his usual seat and flicked something off the end of his thumb. Adeline caught it in her palm and saw it was a galleon

"Fucking gnomes, look! Almost took my fucking nose off!"

Lifting up the band-aid, Hendrik and Adeline leaned in and saw a tiny mouth shaped bite on the bridge of their friend's nose. Hendrik broke first, breaking into a tiny fit of laughter before completely loosening it, which triggered Adeline to break next, she placed a delicate over her mouth and laughed into it until she saw the look on her friend's face

"Oh come on Brax, I think it makes you look tough"

Hendrik scoffs

"Yeah right! Real tough, you got beaten up by something 10 inches tall!"

Adeline smacked him on the shoulder and turned back to her other friend, Abraxis groans beside her and re-applies the band-aid. Switching the conversation to lighten the mood Adeline bumps into her gloomy friend's shoulder

"Still going to copy my work this year I'm assuming"

Hendrik gasps and pulls a hand over his heart appalled by their friend's accusation.

"I would never!"

Adeline smacks him again on the chest at his awful sarcasm. Hendrik was most definitely the funniest of the group

"What about you Stone hm?"

Adeline nudges her Abraxis on the shoulder and his whole body stiffens.

"Del-"

Abraxis says in a weary tone.

What? haven't got another stalk on have u?"

She whispers. Adeline flinches as a throat clears in front of them. Cursing to herself she slowly glances up at her professor

"Miss Everguard, I do request you refrain from using such crude and inappropriate language in my classroom, this is a professional environment"

Embarrassed Adeline bows her head lowly and fiddles with the rings on her fingers
