I looked at my reflection, taking a deep breath and running a shaking hand through my hair. I was gonna do it, I was gonna meet up with Bruce today before school and talk about where we wanted to go as a couple, if we wanted to be a couple of course. I mean in theory he definitely did, he said he did and also he said he liked me a lot and also also he kissed me, so those were all good signs. But at the same time, I had been so anxious I had slept about two hours last night so it would be very easy for me to accidentally ruin everything.
My phone buzzed and I nearly jumped out of my skin, lunging for it.
Gene: So ur talking to him today right
Yeppp so we'll see if I ruin it or not
Gene: Ur gonna be just fine, u got this!
But what if i don't got this
Gene: Ah but u do
Just be urself, he likes you for who u are dumbass so dont even worry abt itUncalled for but thanks love u
Gene: Love u too u got this
I let out a long sigh, scrubbing my face with my hands before shaking my head. Gene was right, I got this, Bruce liked me and all I had to do was not be stupid. I ran a brush through my hair before grabbing a bagel from downstairs, heading for my car. I drummed my fingers against the steering wheel as I drove, running over a million possible scenarios in my head before at last I pulled into the parking lot. I parked in my spot, looking over at Bruce's and gnawing on my lip as I saw his car. "Dammit. Alright come on Eric, you can do this," I said to myself, grabbing my backpack and heading to my locker.
Bruce looked up from his phone as I walked down the hall, giving me a small smile and stepping away from our lockers. "Hey. Uh...good morning," he said. "Morning," I said just as awkwardly, dropping to my knees and opening my locker, switching out my books before straightening up and giving him a nervous smile. "So uh...you said you wanted to talk Monday?" I asked, and a smile twitched across his lips. "Well, it was your idea," he teased, and I felt my face start to burn. "Oh. But um...yeah I'm really sorry for Saturday. I promise I really did enjoy lunch with you and stuff and I really do like you too I was just really surprised because I didn't know you liked me like that so when you kissed me I just totally panicked and bolted," I said, running a hand through my hair.
He gave me a small smile, shrugging as he leaned against the lockers. "It's alright, don't sweat it. I'm just really glad I didn't ruin our relationship or anything, I probably should've said I liked you and then kissed you instead of the other way around," he said, smile turning into a grin. I grinned back, shrugging right back. "Well either way, I'm just glad I got a kiss out of you," I teased. He laughed, shaking his head, before smirking at me, eyes sparkling. "Want another one?" he asked.
I blinked, staring at him in surprise. "A wh-uh...a-another what?" I stammered. "Another kiss," he said, smirk getting bigger. My heart started to race as I stared at him like a deer in headlights. He let out a laugh before shaking his head, leaning forward and kissing me anyway. It was just a quick peck on the lips but even still it was perfect. His lips molded perfectly against mine, soft and tender with the kiss being absolutely brimming with love before he broke away. "Was that good or was it bad enough to make you run away again?" he teased. I laughed, shaking my head and giving him a shove. "Aw shut up. It was nice. I'll have to get you alone some place so I can give you a longer kiss," I said with a grin, and he raised an eyebrow.
"Somewhere alone? Somewhere like...the backseat of my car?" he asked mildly, but his cheeks were growing pink. My eyes widened, heart racing, before I smiled, taking his hand. "The back of your car could work," I said, lacing my fingers through his. I was about to drag him to the parking lot when the first bell rang. I let out a groan, dropping his hand. "At lunch?" I asked hopefully. He nodded, stooping over to kiss me on top of the forehead. "At lunch for sure. Now come on, we've gotta get to class," he said, picking my hand right back up and walking with me down the hall, swinging my hand gently.
There was the sound of footsteps as Peter ran up to us, giving Bruce a huge smile. "Kulick! Don't forget! You promised, you're mine after school from 3 until 5:45!" he said eagerly. I immediately felt a little pang of jealousy slice through me as I gave Bruce a baffled look. "You're his?" I asked, and he rolled his eyes. "I agreed to rejoin the water polo team since Ace had to drop out since he had to get stitches so I'll fill in for him as goalie," he said with a shrug. I saw Peter's eyes dart to our hands, smile somehow growing. "I'm sure Eric'll love it, since the uniform is just a speedo," he teased. "Hey!" I snapped, face burning. Bruce laughed, ruffling my hair. "Aw come on, you're saying you're not excited for that?" he asked.
"I'm saying you don't need to be making fun of me for it," I grumbled. Shaking his head, Bruce gave my hand a squeeze. "Hey if it makes you feel better, I'm looking forward to wrestling season," he said with a wink, letting go of my hand as we walked into the classroom, making me go a bright crimson as Peter just laughed.
Turned out Gene was right, it all somehow was working out just fine.
