Four years later
The sun was shining brightly. In the shadow of a large ginkgo tree sat a young woman with a book in her hands. She slowly turned the pages throwing occasional glances at a small boy playing nearby, His white hair shone brightly in the rays of sunlight. "Sho, put your hat on," she said with a small smile playing on her lips. Sho grabbed his cap and put it on backwards. This is what he always did when he wanted to show that he was a big boy. The woman chuckled and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. Sho's small hands waved at her with excitement that only children could master. His turquoise eyes looked at his mother in pure admiration.
"Mommy, can we go to the pond to feed duckies?" he beamed.
"Okay, but first we will eat our lunch and you have to promise to finish all your vegetables." She said trying to sound strict, yet her smile gave her away. "Why don't you play a little longer while mommy gets everything ready?"
Sho nodded eagerly and returned to his toys. She put the book away and quickly opened a small basket with their lunch. Completely occupied, she did not notice a tall figure hovering over her; not until the painfully familiar bonfire scent tickled her nostrils. The woman tensed and slowly looked up. it's been too long since the last time she smelled that scent.
There he stood, haggard and pale, with dark circles rimming his heterochronic eyes. Those sharp eyes bore into her making her heart race. She held her breath, but the scent quickly enveloped her body.
"Who are you?" Sho's loud voice demanded. "Why are you scaring my mommy?" he glared at the stranger and wrapped his small arms around his mother. She grabbed him and held him closer. Fear swamped her senses.
The man continued looking at them from under his long fringe. His chest kept rising heavily at the sight of the young woman holding the child. His heart raced painfully, yet the feeling of relief started to slowly settle in his mind.
Slowly he eased down on the grass in front of them and exhaled soundly. "I have finally found you, [Y/N][L/N]." he separated each word.
"Sho," she finally let out. "Please go play with your toys. Mommy and..." she bit down her tongue. "and mommy's friend need to talk." The boy released his grip in hesitation. He threw a furious look at the stranger and returned to his game.
"I will not allow you to run away from me again." he said quietly, but loud enough for her to hear. He turned his gaze at the boy. "Our son has really grown."
"He is not yours." She said stubbornly, making him chuckle.
"We both know that's not true."
They watched in silence while Sho continued playing. "I will not let you take him away from me." She hissed under her breath. Shoto looked at her in surprise.
"I would never do that."
And he was not lying.
"Then what is it that you want?"
He looked up at the sky.
"The same as four years ago. You [Y/N], I want you."
