I was listening to music and dancing in my cheer outfit when my boyfriend called me. "Arch?" I asked, picking up the phone. "Baby, I love you, okay? Just remember that." He said before hanging up. I suddenly got scared and tracked his phone, remembering when my dad taught me how.
I took a shallow breath once I saw that he was on the southside of town. I shook my head and sprinted down the stairs, yelling a quick "be right back" to my family and going out to my car. To be fair I only had a permit, so I was terrified.
I put the keys in the ignition, barely able to control my hands shaking. I drove to the southside carefully, begging for my boyfriend to be okay. I finally caught sight of him, or someone that looked like him, spray painting a red circle on the side of a building.
"Archibald Alfred Andrews." I said lowly, getting close enough to where he could hear me. He quickly turned around, his eyes widening once he saw me. "Katrina! What are you-" "Hey! What the hell are you doing?" I turned around and saw a really tall guy with a couple of his friends.
I quickly stepped closer to Archie, my fear already high. "Back off, I'm not hear for you." my boyfriend told him and continued to use the spray paint. "Oh yeah? Then who's this message for?" the tall guy asked, shoving Archie.
"Oh hell." he laughed. "Don't tell me this is for the black hood. Can you believe this guy? And people say we're the troublemakers." he glared Archie down, not sparing a glance at me. Archie pulled his backpack closer and tried to get past them, only to be blocked.
"Woah, this is Southside Serpent country. You can't come here and take our turf. So why don't you get you and your little girlfriends asses back to the northside? Before somebody gets hurt." the tall guy warned. "Arch, come on let's go." I begged.
But he just stared at the guys in front of us. "Get out of my way... Or someone will get hurt." he glared. "You just made a big mistake." the serpent said before pulling out a knife. I gasped and turned to Archie. "Archie let's go plea-" then my boyfriend did something I never wanted to see.
He pulled out a black gun, an SIG Sauer Pistol, waving it in the tall man's face. I immediately stepped back, my lungs making it hard to breathe. I started shaking, the flashbacks coming on strong.

~Flashback~
"What do you want? I'll give you anything!" my mother cried while gripping my hand, terrified of the man in front of us. "I want your life, an eye for an eye." he told her. "Please no-" a loud shot went off, signaling my mother's death. The man turned and pointed his gun at me, another shot going off.
But I wasn't the one dead. He was. I turned around to see my dad, gun in his hand and fear in his eyes. He quickly ran to me, comforting me. But the damage was already done. My mother was gone, his WIFE, was gone.
~End of Flashback~
I came back to reality, shaking and barely aware of the tears that had escaped my eyes. All I saw were the Serpent guys running off, Archie turning to me. He tried to hug me, but I immediately backed away. "D-don't touch me." I stuttered, terrified of him at the moment.
He put the gun away and looked down. "I'm sorry. I know you don't like gu-" "Don't say it." "Them. I know you don't like them, but I didn't have another option baby you have to understand-" "You always have another option! Things aren't solved with violence! You think adding more fuel to the fire will put it out?! No, it won't. It'll make the fire bigger and eventually, you'll get burned." then I ran back to my car, rushing home.
