An eerie silence filled the Queen's chamber just for a moment before the shrill cry of the newborn pierced through it. Maharani Siveshwari, the Queen of Ramapuram had given birth to a princess.
The midwife ran out her eyes brimming with tears of joy, to give Maharaja IndraRajan the good news. The King's joy know no bounds. He was ecstatic to know that his wife had given birth to his daughter.
It was not common knowledge that the Kingdom had a Queen, only those every close the royals knew of it, and they surely did not know that their Queen was pregnant.
The Kingdom of Ramapuram, flourishing with its growing economy was starting to become what every King wanted, and the attacks had increased. Fearing the life of his dear wife, the King chose to keep their union a secret from the normal people.
Just as the King entered his wife's chamber, and took his daughter in his arms, the alarms all over the palace started to ring. The small strands of hairs on the King's neck stood straight in alarm, he knew what had happened. Giving his daughter a quick kiss on her forehead, he pressed a longing kiss on his wife's lips, before handing over their daughter to her.
"Go and stay in the safe room with Amma, Ishwari, and don't come out, come what may," the king said, his face showing no emotions. "If anything happens to me, you will rule the kingdom and the ministers know of it, they'll support you through thick and thin" he said, a flicker of fear passed on his face at the thought of not being able to see his wife or his daughter anymore.
"Promise me Ishwari, you will stay safe, no matter what", the king all but begged his Queen. "But, Indra- ", he interrupted her, "please, for my sake".
"Security in the palace has been breached".
