'And now, please welcome our next and final participant, Nina Salazar-Roberts! Give it up for Nina, everybody!' The host announced into the mike enthusiastically, which earned a nice round of applause from the audience.

Nini walked through the crowd, with her head bent down towards the stage, her eyes focusing on the muddy ground, which suddenly seemed interesting.

She walked up the stairs, and hesitantly took the mike from the host, who gave her an encouraging smile and left the stage. Nini turned to the audience, with a weak smile.

'Heyy everyone, I'm Nini, and I'll be singing a song.. that was written by me.' Nini said, in her vague British accent, and then quickly realised it, and shut her mouth before she could embarass herself by talking and rather sing.

Her eyes immediately caught a red headed figure (Big Red), another red haired girl (Ashlyn), Carlos, Seb, EJ and Kourtney moving through the crowd, as she gripped the mike tighter.

Her friends were here.

She felt her heart racing, and her mouth went dry as she willed herself to sing. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath, like Ricky had suggested.

So much has happened

In the time that the Earth
Has traveled 'round the Sun

Nini looked at the crowd and then at the three judges, which was a bad idea, even though the crowd was cheering for her, it just made her more nervous, and scared. She closed her eyes again, and began to sing.

Winter, spring, summer
And we're back to fall
We've been together
Hand-in-hand through it all

The crowd was slowly grooving to the tune with smiles on their faces, and Nini saw EJ and Ashlyn give her a thumbs up sign and a 'you're doing great!' smile. She smiled back nervously, and continued, ignoring that shaky feeling in her knees, or the horrible pit forming in her stomach. This song was too personal.

Why had she decided to sing this?

Seven months ago, Nini had come to a conclusion that she had a massive crush on her best friend Ricky, which had taken an eternity to form.

One fateful Friday night, she told Kourtney, who started freaking out, saying something excitedly about some romantic movie playing right out in front of her eyes.. or something like that. Nini wasn't exactly listening, because, yet again, she was lost in another daydream, starring the one and only Ricky Bowen.

At first, she saw him nothing more than a friend, who she could spend all day or night with, laughing and talking endlessly, throwing water balloons at, and building tree houses with. Then there were.. the moments.

There were so many times when Nini felt her stomach contain butterflies that fluttered around making her all giddy with happiness, (not a perfect description, but how can you describe that?) like that time when they were lying on her bed watching some movie, and both of them reached out to grab some snacks. Their hands brushed against each other and god damn, that was just..
