ʕ •ᴥ•ʔWhen we got back to land, I was still shaking, I could barely stand up. Louis talked to the teachers and got back to the hotel with me.
We both sat on my bed and stayed silent for a while.
"I'm sorry..." – Louis said full of regret – "I shouldn't have done that"
I looked at the floor with a straight face.
"It was supposed to be something we could laugh about. I didn't expect it to become so scary for you." – he looked at the floor as well -" It's just the stupid jokes that I do to get your attention."
I was looking at him while he was looking down.
"Every time I try to flirt with you, I mess it up... such a jerk" – he shook his head in disappointment. I noticed a tear falling on the floor.
I placed my hand on his jaw and turned his face in my direction. I put my other hand on this cheek and whipped of the other tear that was falling of his eye.
"Don't say that." – I placed a gently kiss on his cheek, making him red.
I smiled.We looked at each other's eyes.
Our faces began to come closer, and I could feel his warm breath in my face. Our noses touched but...
"Ava are you... Oh I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to... "- Mr. Lane entered the room.
Louis and I quickly stepped aside.
"No no no, you don't have to be, it isn't what it seems like I swear" - I said hoping that the teacher didn't get the wrong impression of what happened.
"I was just going to thank Louis for taking care of you, it was irresponsible of us not to have life jacket on the canoes." - she sat by my side - "How are you, dear? I'm sure that this was traumatic for you, just know that I'm here for you.
"I'm okay, thank you, Ms. Lane" - I said
"I'm going to leave you two alone. Olivia and Luke were really concerned about you dear, Olivia almost cried but she's okay now."
"Thank you so much Ms. Lane" - I replied.
She left the room.
There was an awkward silence in the room.
"Hey Ava, you know you can talk with me. "- Louis said calmly.
"I... I just don't want you to feel sorry for me that's why I haven't told you yet"
"I won't, trust me. I'm here for you"
"My mom died." - I said swallowing the dry saliva that was on my mouth. I still felt the need to explain why I was so afraid of water and drowning. - "She was just on a boat ride with one of her friends and then..." – tears fell down my face. Remembering was so hard, I didn't want to get into much detail. – "and then she drowned. Her body was found but there wasn't much that they could do. I'm sorry Lou, I didn't want to keep this from you but it's just..." – I put my hand on my mouth to stop me from falling apart in front of Louis.
"No no no, don't cry, it's okay." - he gave me a tight hug and then, gently, laid down still hugging me - "Ava, I really am sorry for what I did and for your loss. I didn't know about that, I really didn't." - he said with a shaky voice.
"It's okay, it's my fault, I was the one that didn't tell you before we got there"
"No, don't blame this on yourself okay. Do you want to talk about it?" - he asked with a calming voice.
I looked at him with watery eyes. I laid my head on his stomach, still trying to wipe some of my tears out.
"She was amazing. She had long dark curly hair and dark mysterious eyes. She had a voice of an angel and she loved arts. We used to sing until my voice cracked and we'd laugh all night. She was an amazing artist but not many people recognized her talent. She was gifted..." - I stopped talking for a while. Louis started playing gently with my hair making twirls. - "Lou..."
"Yes"
"I really miss her" - I told him openly.
He putted his arm around me, and I hugged him.
"Thank you" - my voice cracked
"Thank you for opening up to me" - he said, hugging me tighter.
We stood there hugging each other for a while.
"Hey Ava..."- he said in a calm voice. – "... we should get ready for dinner time."
"Wait what time is it?" - I asked confused
"Time for dinner...Here..." - he gently cleared the tear beneath my eyes and then kissed me on the cheek. I felt his soft lips touching my skin. I blushed.
Wow... he's SO DAMN CUTE
"You're blushing."- Louis said with the biggest smile ever.
"No, I'm not, shut up." - I said laughing and turning my face away so that we could not see the reddens of my face.
"Yes, you areee..." - he said teasing me.
I rolled my eyes with a smile.
He went to his room to change. I quickly got into some nice clothes before he came back.
"Do I look okay?" - I asked Louis
He smiled.
"You look gorgeous."
I blushed and turned my face away to avoid eye contact.
"We should go, Olivia must be really worried about you "- Louis told me.
"Thank you, Louis, or shall I say... Mr. Partridge." - I joked with him.
"May I, Ms. Fletcher?" - He asked, giving me his arm like in the movies.
Oh wait! Did he just call me by my last name? Wow that was something.
I handed him my hand. We looked at each other and smiled.
