This is a new story that I'm working on, so give it a read and let me know what you think!
Chapter One
New Beginning
I sighed in frustration, eyes rolling to the sky and back, Elise’s tone was grating on me, the constant tapping of her foot driving me mad, she expected me to be excited but in reality it’s just another eventful day in the life of Blair Adams, another day, another prospective family which would probably give me back to the care provision in a few months, maybe less. Elise is my social worker, a boring woman with a look that could cause you to drop down dead; I was not her favourite person, I had been with twenty-two families, being sent back to her care in under a year every time and this didn’t help with her reputation, therefore she hated me.
I’m Blair by the way, I’m sixteen with long, thick brown hair and brown eyes, some would say school was my forte; this is to be expected moving from school to school continuously you being to learn how the school system works. One problem with being the new girl and being what I will say somewhat pretty caused the guys to think I was an easy target, this was the reason I acted like a player, to protect myself from guys thinking I was easy and a pushover, I found that girls that acted like guys when it came to toying with people’s feelings hated girls who were players. This didn’t stop them trying to ‘bed’ me, but it gave the shy girls a break, I sound like a slut right..... wrong, I have never slept with anybody, yes I’m a virgin, but if the guys knew this I would be a game to see who could get me to give them all of me. After a while they give up, leaving me alone to my lonesome, I don’t make friends because I leave not long after, why create ties that you will only have to break, however the real me is shy and quiet, unless someone pisses me off, then I lose my temper and quickly, too quickly to be honest and it isn’t normal, it’s like there’s something trying to push its way out of me, fighting to take control.
The tapping of Elise’s foot was getting more annoying by the minute, but I refuse to get out of the passenger seat of her car with her being so god damn rude. I honestly cannot stand her, when something goes wrong and her reputation drops a little bit more I get the blame, the only time I have been to blame is with my last family where the families 15 year old sister insulted me over and over again and then thought it would be funny to push me, so I pushed back and my strength seemed increased and she flew backwards into the road, where thankfully there were no cars.
Finally stepping out of the car with Elise’s glare centred on the back of my head, I walked up to the door, up to the family that stood waiting happily, the father, the mother and the two teenage sons.... ‘great just what I need’.... To speak honestly they look nice enough making me all the more shy, tingles spreading up over my skin as I looked at the oldest boy, suddenly feeling self-conscious, my subconscious was screaming profanities at me, begging me not to let the real me show ~ “What the hell are you doing, you have never worried about what a family has thought of you before, grow a backbone you stupid girl, where has the alter-ego Blair disappeared to, don’t let them see how vulnerable you feel right now!”
“Hello Blair, welcome to our home, I hope you enjoy your long lasting time with us.” The fathers smile stretched across his face, the crinkles around his eyes showing, making him look older than he probably was.
“Thank you Sir.”
The chuckle that he let out sounded like a slight playful growl, “call me Marcus, we are all family now.”
“Okay, thank you Marcus,” the others remained silent, it was weird, it looked as if they were waiting for Marcus to finish talking. “Hi, I’m Blair, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“Hello dear, you can call me mom, or Isabelle, whatever makes you more comfortable, this here...” she signalled to the younger boy on her left “... is James, he’s only twelve and his older brother Zak is in your ear so you’ll probably spend a lot more time with him.”
“Well it’s nice to meet you all and thank you for taking me in.” I don’t know what possessed me to add, maybe it was my alter-ego. “It’s okay boys I promise to keep out of your way when you’re busy.” A smirk crept onto my face as I winked at them, it was meant more for Zak than for James but I could see he didn’t understand it anyway. My gaze moved to Zak where it instantly locked, he was unbelievably good looking, but this pull made me want to get to know him more than I ever had with any other boy before in my life.
Marcus and Isabelle has disappeared into the house leaving me alone with the boys, whilst Elise entered the home to check everything was in order before leaving me at my twenty-third home.
“Trust me Blair, you won’t want to stay out of my business, since at some point it will include you baby.” He winked before walking into the house and up the stairs.
“Ah great living with a hormonal, arrogant, pig-headed player, just your luck Blair, well if he isn’t going to leave me alone best play the game, let’s see who wins chocolate boy.”
My subconscious was jumping for joy at the thought of the game reappearing, all she had to say was GAME ON!!
Well this is the first chapter let me know what you think and whether to continue, the second chapter will be up soon after.
