You died on Mother's Day

What more can I say?

You died on Mother's day

And it will always be my eternal pain.

You died on Mother's Day

On the dawn of a new day 

You died on Mother's Day

Its been three  weeks since that day..

You died on Mother's Day 

And suddenly, I have no Mom

You died on Mother's Day 

And the irony is too much to bear.

You died on Mother's Day

And I am lost  and sad

You died on Mother's Day

Leaving us lonely , smaller shadows of our former selves.

You died on Mother's Day 

And what am I to do without you?

You died on Mother's Day

On a lonely road  in Limerick city  , crashing into a little foreboding sign.

You died on Mother's Day

In an accident of four , only you did not survive

You died on Mother's Day

And me and him who were left behind at home are filled with  pointless guilt.

You died on Mother's Day

And I woke up at 10 am and heard the news.

You died on Mother's Day

My brother says my name"There's been an accident he says but they're fine "

You died on Mother's Day

Walking into the hospital first they take us to see little brother and sister

You died on Mother's Day

Then Dad, and finally I cannot wait "Where's Mom ", I say

And I know the truth  with all my soul.

She's dead , its true

You died on Mother's Day

I'll never see your face again or ever hear your laugh.

You died on Mother's Day

And I wasn't even with you.

And every  night I ask Him"Why not take me instead"?

Yet God is great and  only he knows why

I thank him for all the years I had 

And repeat this simple phrase 

And Cain said unto God"My punishment is more than I can bear"

You died on Mother's Day 

And I am sad and lonely

I love you  Mom, I always will

You died on Mother's Day 

And

 I'll protect our family through fire or force.

My last gift to you

Who died on Mother's Day

And loved me so well I'll never forget it.
