It all happened so fast. The eyes got closer and closer, all I could do was stand there in shock but I also knew that it wouldn't help if I ran. The wolf stopped two feet in front of me with it's bleach white teeth bared, its upper lip quivering as it growled. I waited for it to jump on me but instead it looked up at the sky and howled calling for its pack. I watched in horror as five more wolves identical to the one in front of me, emerged out of the woods behind my house. The one facing me seemed to be the leader he flicked his nose in the direction if my house and three wolves went running towards it. No! I couldn't let them get to my family. I turned and ran not knowing if I could out run 6 wolves but I tried. I heard yelling and screaming, then a gunshot...oh no, it was like last night all over again. My mom stepped out onto the porch as I ran towards it. She had a gun in her hand and she was shaking. Did she kill the wolves? I stopped running and looked behind me the wolves were gone.
"Maria? Maria it's time to come in." My mom called from the porch. Wait. Where's dad? Where's Thomas? I ran past her and into the house, she was still calling for me like she hadn't even seen me go past. I stopped at the kitchen first. My dad was on the floor with a hole in his head from where mom must have shot him. But this wasn't how it was last night. This wasn't how it ended. I ran to the living room to find Thomas in the same position as before. In a pool of his own blood, with one single wolf above him growling at me, warning me to stay away. I didn't understand. This wasn't how it happened. I ran back into the kitchen and my mom was there cooking dinner, the blood from my dads lifeless body was gone and so was his body. The gun was nowhere in sight. How could this happen? I saw him there on the floor, his eyes wide open in shock.

I walked up to my mom an touched her shoulder but she vanished and only a wolf was left in her place. I backed away quickly and ran to the living room. Only to find that Thomas's body was gone as well, except the wolf was still there growling at me and baring its teeth. I turned around to the one that followed me out of the kitchen and it had four more behind it. I closed my eyes and counted to ten but when I got to five I heard my mom scream. I opened my eyes and I was back in the woods. I was laying on the ground surrounded by leaves. I looked over towards the house where I heard my mom scream, she was arguing with my dad again but this time, he held the gun. I watched in complete horror as he raised the gun smiling like a mad man.
"Oh Catherine. Did you really think I was going to let this little freak show of a marriage continue? Did you really think I loved you?" He said to my mom as his finger closed around the trigger. I didn't understand why I wasn't moving to try and stop this from happening but when I looked at my body I knew why. A wolf stood directly above me, it appeared to be guarding me but I knew otherwise. It was watching my parents argue almost as if it was waiting to hear the sound of the gunshot being fired. As I looked back at my dad that's exactly what happened. He pulled the trigger and my mom fell backwards off the porch clutching her heart, her eyes wide with shock and fear. My dad just smiled and walked inside.
"Thomas!" I screamed and tried to get up but the wolf pinned me down. What was he going to do to Thomas? Was dad going to kill him too? I looked over at my moms lifeless body in the grass, she was covered in blood and I knew there was no way to save her. He shot her directly in the heart, right where her hand was clutching her chest. I could see her wedding ring, covered in blood as it started to fill the space around her.

I turned and lifted my foot to kick the wolf off of me, once I did I got up and ran towards my moms body. As I got there her body turned into my dads. It wasn't my mom clutching her heart. It was my dad. I knew I couldn't stop and stare, that wolf wouldn't stay down for long and pretty soon it would have the others coming for me as well. I ran past my dads body and into the house. I stopped in my tracks again feeling even more confused than before. My mom, my dad, and even Thomas were all sitting at the table as if they were waiting for something, and when I saw the empty spot where I usually sit I realised that they were waiting for me.
"Maria! There you are. You weren't in those woods again were you? I told you it was chilly and I didn't want you I them today." My mom said to me as I slowly made my way closer to the table.
"No I was just sitting on the porch, watching the sunset. I heard arguing and a gunshot so I came rushing back In and I thought something was wrong." I said trying understand what had just happened. They all looked at me with different expressions. My mom's was shocked and appalled, she clearly thought I was insane. My dad's just looked tired like he was ready for this to be over. Thomas's was a look of wonder and joy. He looked so intrigued, he looked like he wanted me to continue, but with the looks I was receiving from my parents I decided it would be best to keep my mouth shut. I looked down at the table and waited for my dad to say the usual prayer. I hadn't realised that I was so lost in my thoughts while he was praying until I felt a soft kick against my leg from Thomas. My eyes shot open and I looked up at him, he looked concerned like he wanted to know if I was okay. I nodded to let him know that I was fine, it seemed to satisfy him for now and he took a bite of his potatoes.

After dinner I went up to my room to process what had happened. Mom and Thomas were doing dishes and dad was watching the news. I started pacing in circles around my room trying to piece together some sort of explanation for what had just happened, but I couldn't think of anything. Nothing came to mind except that maybe I'm going insane. I glanced to my window where I could see the woods. I walked over to it and opened it, leaning on the windowsill. I looked deep into the woods trying to find an answer to all of the chaos that's been happening. I saw nothing an it was getting cold. I shut my window and as I did I saw a flash of red in the woods. I blinked and rubbed my eyes thinking that maybe i was just imagining it, but when I looked back at the woods the six wolves were all lined up at the edge of the woods, backs arched, teeth bared, lips quivering from their growls. I quickly closed my curtains and closed my eyes, wishing them away. When I opened my eyes again, I wasn't in my room anymore.

Well that's chapter 3. I've realised that my chapters are pretty short but I thin there may be a whole lot of them to make up for it. That is if I keep writing this.
I'm having second thoughts. But I guess you'll see if I continue if you get an update about chapter for

As always. Stay beautiful ✌
