Roleplaying is a way to interact with other people through certain characters. You can roleplay through an OC (Original Character), a pre-existing character, or as yourself.
When you roleplay, you're playing a character. Not necessarily yourself.
My tips for starting out is making a character. There are no big things to research, nothing to care about, you don't even need to be literate.
Just, play how you like. :)
