Violet stood in awe, her eyes widening at the sight in front of her. A field of flowers, all a multitude of colors. It seemed that the flowers went on for infinity. The perfumes wafted in the air. She dropped her backpack against the tree, and veered off the dirt path. Violet stood amongst the flowers, scanning them. She gasped in shock, she has spotted a unique one. A flame lily stood in the middle of the field. The edges were a yellow and in the middle a bright red. Carefully, she plucked them. A giddiness coming upon her, these flowers were used in the concoctions used for her healing balms. She was always running short on flame lilies, she had to travel three days once every year just to restock. Violet had run out of them a couple months ago, she couldn't find them anywhere.
Violet continued her journey. She wished that she could shift, feel her paws pounding on the ground. The thought was tempting. She rubbed the mark on her wrist, it was a reminder of the rule that she had to follow: don't shift in front of other wolves. Violet was getting closer to an area filled with multiple packs, if anyone were to see her wolf... Violet had to go on foot.
She grunts in pain, a sharp feeling came upon her. It was as if someone had kicked her. Lowering herself onto the floor, Violet slowly lifted up her shirt. She assessed the damage. Clusters of purple and black blotches appeared on her pale stomach. She tried to reach for her bag, but could only wince as she tried to move. Violet dragged herself to her bag, and grabbed out a small container. The ointment would be able to subdue the pain. She spread the mixture on her body, closing her eyes as she felt her stomach tingle. Violet tried to stand up, but failed and sat immediately back down. Tears threatened to fall. After a couple of seconds, she was able to stand back up.She needed to find her. Time was running out. The injuries was coming more frequently. Violet walked a little slower. The pain from her abdomen was enough for her to take an extra hour getting to the Silver Moon pack. She would've been able to reach in an hour or less. Violet was used to the life of traveling. She always went from pack to pack. She was a traveling healer, so she went to teach or learn. Sometimes though it could get lonely. She had too, she had made a promise.
Finally, she reached the pack. She stood outside the boundary, waiting. The beta would pick her up and take her to the pack house. Violet was shocked when she heard that she would be staying in the pack house, mostly Violet would find her accommodations to be a guest house. This pack was different. A lean man strode toward her. His muscles flex as he walked. He had mossy green eyes and ruffled brownish-red hair.He smiled at her, lighting up his whole face.
"Violet. I'm Beta Charles." He said, grabbing her hand giving it a firm handshake. She can't help but smile back, something about his smile was infectious. "Come on. I'll take you the house."He said, waving her to follow.
"It's an honor to be able to work with your pack." Violet told him as she trailed behind him. He took big steps and she was struggling to catch up.
"Remember Paige and James." The familiar voice whispers into her mind. Violet sighed softly, she was coming here for another reason. She had a debt to be paid, and her job was to make sure Paige and James will accept each other as mates. Violet was taken aback by the request, when the silver haired woman asked. She appeared out of nowhere, startling her. It had been such a long time, since the woman had popped up with a task. This one was an odd one, mates usually always accepted each other.
"Violet?" A voice asked, snapping her out of her thoughts. Beta Charles looks at her with a concerned look. "We are at the pack house. You've been standing there" He says, chuckling. Beta Charles was standing on a porch, while she stood in front of the stairs.
"Sorry, I was in a daze."Violet laughed in embarrassment. Her cheeks tinged pink. She walked up the stairs, and then followed the beta into the house. As soon as he opened the door, Violet could smell a sweet fragrance. It was a mixture of vanilla and cinnamon. Her wolf was starting to stir. In front of her stood the most handsome man she had ever seen. He had dark brown ruffled hair. His eyes were pools of dark blue. He somehow was even more muscular than the beta. Mate. Her wolf says softly. He stared at her, taking her in.
"This is Alpha Connor and Luna Paige." Violet tensed at the Beta introduction. He had a luna? How was this possible? Wolves don't have partners who were not their mates. At first instinct, she scanned their necks. A wave of relief overcame her, they were not marked. Violet scrutinized the petite blonde woman beside him. She was gorgeous, her hair was wavy, cascading down her back. Her eyes hazel. Violet could feel her wolf's jealousy and confusion. Nothing was shown on Violet's face, she tried to suppress her wolf who was ready to burst. She smiled politely.
This is good. She thought to herself. She didn't need a mate. It would only distract herself from finding her. She tried to convince herself, but she still felt on edge.
"It's an honor to meet you." She said.
"I'll take Violet to her room." The beta says, he touched her shoulder. She almost sighed in relief, she needed to leave as soon as possible. The alpha's eyes darkened and he clenched his jaw. She ignored him. Her wolf was pleased with his reaction, she tried to stay neutral. Violet followed the beta all of a sudden remembering the silver-haired woman's request. Paige! Violet face pales as they entered the room. Just as the beta was about to leave, Violet tapped his shoulder.
"Is there any other pack members named Paige?" She asks.
"No..." He trails, looking at her oddly. Shit.
"When is she getting accepted as a Luna?" She asks her voice trying hard to sound casual.
"In two months." With that he left her in her thoughts. Two months! Violet only had two months! She was screwed.
