Summer
The weather in Coney Island was very pleasant at this time of year, with its 84ºF, the peninsula kept its refreshing winds, winds that were now gently blowing Denali's hair. Lying upside down, her legs resting on the back of the sofa, she was enjoying the warmth of the sun while she waited for her.
Driving at 50 miles an hour, Rosé felt the same wind through the pickup truck's window, stroking her pink curls, her eyes were protected by sunglasses due to the glowing sunlight reflected on the asphalt. She faced the red traffic light and then watched people walking by the sand at the beach, she was counting the minutes to meet her.
The two had been dating for only a month now, they met by chance on that same beach, when a very clumsy, walking backwards Denali had tripped over the body of Rosé who was lying on the sand.
- Oh my God, I'm so very sorry!!! - The brunette girl said desperately while examining the spot where she had hit her: the pink haired girl's right eye.
- No worries, everything is fine, I know you didn't mean to - she excused the other girl, trying to raise her torso a little to support the weight on her elbow, blinking her eyes repeatedly to stop the pain and see the brunette better.
Denali gently blew her eyelids and Rosé's vision came into focus, she smiled at the brunette girl who returned the gesture. It was enough for both to understand that the accident had been unique and special, the two secretly swore that they would never be far from each other thereafter.
Rosé parked the car, lining it up on the curb of 13 Scotland Street, where extremely green trees and bushes decorated the sidewalks. She removed her sunglasses and stared at her reflection in the rearview mirror. She could still feel butterflies in her stomach, even after one month.
She walked to the door, ringing the bell and taking a few steps back to pay attention to the neighborhood while she waited, a few seconds later a smile blossomed on her lips when Denali emerged from inside the house, she ran up to Rosé jumping on her lap and hugging her tight.
The pink haired girl spun her around, Denali's legs dangled in the air and she let out a laugh that was pure music to Rosé. When she stepped on the floor again, Denali paid attention to every single, tiny detail of her girlfriend, the messy pink curls, the little freckles spread under her eyes and on her cheeks resembled constellations, she sighed deeply, closing her eyes and keeping the image like a photograph within herself.
Rosé took advantage of the moment to pay attention to her as well, every time her gaze landed on the girl, it was like the first time, she was already used to this little mania of hers, whenever they saw each other she did the same. Denali would stop randomly, look at her for a while and then close her eyes. She had asked her the first time, "what are you doing?" to which the brunette replied only: "remembering this".
