The High School cafeteria was bustling with life by the time Holly Fletcher found her seat, glaring down at the red and gold uniform she'd been guilted into wearing. Tonight would mark the first away game of the season and although many of the students were bursting with excitement-- Holly was, understandably, none too pleased at the thought of standing, scantily clad in the snow. She'd prayed the game would be cancelled given the weather conditions but she couldn't get so lucky.
Flicking an invisible speck of lint from his varsity jacket and smiling in pride at it, Josh was more than pleased at the thought of ramming into some opposing team players. He was oddly immune to the chilly weather.
"Harry is so pissed at me," Mae groaned and drooped her head to lie on the slightly sticky table, to which Holly cringed and chomped on a carrot stick. It was her first day back after her few day absence and her heart was hammering at the thought of seeing Edward again. He had been there in the morning, true to his word and despite the fact that his eyes were shut-- she knew he hadn't slept, that he couldn't sleep. A well wish, a sweet kiss and a cuddle later and he'd had to head home to change.
Understandably, Holly had been late to school that morning and had been cornered by the cheer girls at the break, the team harbouring on about catching her up on routines.
"What'd you do to anger Mister Golden boy?" Josh hummed, not sounding at all bitter but Holly knew that somewhere deep down, he was upset at the thought of Mae being with somebody, anybody, that wasn't him. He promptly snatched a carrot from Holly and earned a glare and a small whack.
"He's annoyed that I haven't told my parents about him yet,"
"You haven't told your parents about him yet?" Holly repeated, turning an amused smile to her friend. She distinctly remembered having had this conversation once before. She knew why Mae hadn't told them-- Mae's parents had loved Josh, he could be very charming when he wanted to be, as well as being family friends. Whereas they'd likely never heard of Harry and if they had, it wouldn't have been a good thing. Mae was worried to tell them that she had a new boyfriend so close to her last.
"Obviously not Hols, have you even been listening?" Mae snapped and Holly swallowed a smirk.
"You should really get on that," she grinned and Mae flicked her across the nose-- earning an angry glare.
"Ow."
"Ladies, let us not fight," Josh winked, leaning back in his chair, taking a ridiculous sized bite out of his carrot. "You both coming mine for Halloween?" he mumbled around the mouthful and Mae turned her nose up at it. After everything that had happened recently, Holly understandably completely forgot about Halloween-- even if she was dating a vampire. The thought of that made her grin, what would he make of the vampire costumes? Maybe she'd dress as a truly ridiculous one just to annoy him.
"Of course," Holly remarked, chewing aggressively and glaring between the two people who kept stealing her carrots.
"Perhaps you should dress up as a carrot babes, orange would suit your complexion," Josh winked and Mae scoffed.
"Am I invited?"
"Yes,"
"Is Harry invited?" Josh smirked at that question.
"No," he returned and Mae's wide eyes whipped around to him. "Of course he is, whole schools invited but if you shag anywhere near my bedroom, I'm shoving you both in the pool," Josh clicked his tongue. "Are we coordinating? Assuming Holly doesn't want to dress as a carrot, I was thinking sexy pirates."
"Pirates are boring," Holly mused, watching as Edward made his way across the room. Perhaps it was just because she'd kissed him the day before but he was looking mighty fine that day. When he smiled cheekily, a clear indication that he'd heard her thoughts, she made a good show of thinking about his hair being messy and out of place, finding utmost enjoyment when he reached up to fix it. Holly giggled away and he slid into the seat beside her, shooting her an accusatory glare.
