Heavy breathing and harsh steps echoed through the air as the ten year old ran, their village destroyed and raided, their mother's black cloak wrapped tightly around their body.

The sound of gravel crunching under their shoes changed to dirt, the darkness of night leaving them invisible with each step. The screams of others in their village scared them, their mother begging for them to run echoing in their mind.

The light of the fires that spread faded from sight the further they ran, their legs aching and screaming at them to stop yet their mind pleading both to continue running and to turn back

Feeling everything burn made them slow down, glancing around they saw no creatures, no pilligers aiming for the childs head... only them

The urge to turn back clawed at them but they didn't, instead choosing to wait until morning to be safe of any attacks.

They unclipped their mothers cloak, folding it across their arm carefully as the F/c feathery wings stretched absentmindedly, they flapped gently allowing them to reach one of the higher branches of the tree infont of them.

The child carefully lowered their body onto one of the stronger branches, pulling out the satchel their father handed them

'For emergencies' he had said before hugging them tightly and bidding them farewell as he went out to protect the village from the intruders

Inside wasn't much, a few water bottles, a loaf of bread, bandages, two potions of healing and some apples.

They held it close to them and sighed, the realisations of what happened catching up to them. Maybe some of the village survived? The chances were slim sure but someone had to of survived... Right?

Their village wasn't normal, maybe that's what made them a target, people with animal like features all in one place made it easier for people to pick them off one by one but its never been a whole team... Maybe that's what made it so difficult to fight back

Their father's blue and red wings filled the young ones vision, their mother's heightened senses and cheetah like ears and tail joined it. Then them. Their F/c wings highlighted in darker shades at the tips, surrounding their body like a blanket.

The child kept the image in their head until falling into a dreamless sleep, hugging the memory close inside.

The bright sun forced them to awaken with a groan of frustration they opened the satchel and grabbed a bottle of water

The events of the night stayed fresh in their mind as they looked ahead of them, their eyes just barely being able to see the outline of their village even though it was so far in the distance

It surprised them how far they ran in the matter of minutes, though they labeled it as their mothers enhanced speed that was passed to them.

Placing the bottle back into the bag, the child grabbed their cloak and flew down the tree, folding their wings into their body and covering it with the long cloak

Making sure everything was secure they ran as fast as they could, arriving at the remains of their village after a few minutes, panting slightly.

Their pace slowed to a walk whey they reached gravel, looking around their village, small flames still burned against the charred wood and stone. Ignoring the gore of people they once loved, they ran into their home, the exterior only charred and cracked with a few windows smashed...

Unsure where to go, Y/n went to their room picking up some clothes and a brush then went to their parents room, collecting some emeralds and other materials.
