Chapter 3: The Hunt

  The Hunt: International Criminal Krav

I am watching the minute hand of my wristwatch as I sit on the branch of a tree, waiting for our leaders to signal for me to make a move and quietly infiltrate the mansion to abduct the wife and daughter of Mason Krav.

"Tertium." It's the voice of Primis that brings me back to reality.

"Finally! Got it!" I replied and stealthily jumped down from the tree branch, quietly treading the path to the mansion at the top of the hill.

FLASHBACK...

It's just 3 in the morning, and I just finished changing into my attire while ignoring the death glares of my team members. It's not like it's my fault, right? Ang aga-aga nilang gumising eh! Gumising daw ba ng ala una ng umaga! Eh diba devil's hour pa yun?!

"TERTIUM! STOP SPACING OUT AND GET YOUR ASS MOVING OR ELSE YOU'LL HAVE TO WALK YOUR WAY TO THE ISLAND BAREFOOT!" Sigaw ni Secundus.

Siya nalang ang kasama ko dito sa base namin. Kaaalis lang ni Quartus kanina at kanina pang alas dos umalis si leader papuntang isla to assess the place and situation.

Sipag diba?!

"Tertium!" Sigaw ni Secundus na gumulantang sa pagkatao ko.

"Ito na!" Sigaw ko pabalik habang tumatakbo palabas ng base kung saan ko makikita ang isang halimaw! Hehehe, joke!

Pagkalabas ko, nakita ko si Secundus na nakasandal sa door frame nang nakapikit.

"Took you long enough. Let's go. Quartus is waiting for us," sabi nito, tiyaka niya binuksan ang kaniyang mga mata at nauna nang maglakad papunta sa aircraft na sasakyan namin papunta sa isla.

The aircraft we are going to use this time can conceal or camouflage itself when flying in the air. I just hope we won't meet any turbulence while heading to our destination.

By the way, Quartus is our pilot. She knows a lot of information involving machinery, including weaponry and others.

"Buhay pa ba yang mga yan?" Quartus.

"Yeah. They are still breathing," sagot ni Secundus habang chini-check ang pulso ng isa sa nakabulagtang tauhan ni Krav.

"LEADERRRR!" Sigaw ni Quartus ng makita si Primis na nakasandal sa puno habang kumakain ng lollipop.

But Primis flinched as soon as she heard Quartus calling out for her.

"Stop shouting, my eardrums are going to burst," Primis.

"Grabe ka naman leader. Hindi naman malakas yung boses ko ah!" Quartus retorted.

"Hiss!" Primis hissed when she then again heard Quartus's voice, which sounded like she swallowed a whole bunch of microphones.

Primis pointed to her left ear, which had an earpiece plugged in.

"Hehehe, peace?" Quartus replied with a matching V sign while smiling awkwardly.

"Nakalimutan kong naka-connect nga pala yung earpiece," Quartus said, but Primis didn't reply.

"Let's go. There is no time to waste," sabi ni Primis, at saka umayos ng tindig.

"Copy." The three of us replied, then walked while I put my earpiece on.

Habang naglalakad ako, I noticed that Primis and Quartus are not following us.

I looked back and saw the two of them talking, like discussing something.

"Hey! Hurry up!" I called for Quartus's attention.

She then turned around to face me and replied.

"Mauna ka na! Susunod agad ako." Then she turned around to continue the conversation with Primis.

I stood there for a second, contemplating, then just shrugged my shoulders as I ran to catch up with Secundus's pace.

"Where are they?" Secundus asked as soon as I caught up with her.

"They seem to be talking about something. A strategy maybe?" I replied.

"Hmmm." She hummed and then continued walking until we reached our assigned spots.

PRESENT TIME...

I'm walking with ease as if I'm not on a mission.

When I arrived at the front door, I stood there for a good second or two, contemplating whether I should just barge in or knock.

After a second of thought, I decided to knock.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING, TERTIUM!" Quartus yelled at me through the earpiece.

"What? It's rude to just barge into someone's house, you know? They didn't teach you that at school?" I replied.

"FOR GOD'S SAKE, WE ARE ON A MISSION!"

"Chill!" I replied as I kicked the door open when nobody opened it for me.

I was prepared for an attack but was surprised when the hall was empty.

I carefully scanned the surroundings and confirmed that nobody was indeed on this floor. I reported it.

"Mukhang alam yata nilang dadating tayo," I informed my group.

"Hmmm, search the whole area, Tertium," Secundus replied.

"Copy," I replied.

"Any vision, Quartus?" Primis asked.

"None, as of the moment... wait," Quartus replied.

"I found a tunnel at the back of the mansion," Quartus said.

When I heard that, I immediately turned around and walked my way out to the back of the house.

Before I even got to the location, I saw a private message from the leader.

"Impostor."

I immediately got it when I read her message.

I was shocked but didn't show any emotion on my face as I approached Quartus.

Secundus was already there, we gave each other a look and then approached Quartus.

I acted as my usual self and calmly talked to her.

"Hey..." Before she could even turn around, the tip of the needle already pierced her neck, causing her to fall and revealing Secundus holding a syringe.

"Good job!" I said as I stared at the body lying down.

"Anong gagawin natin dito?" I asked her.

"Let's transport her to the HQ," Secundus replied.

I nodded my head, then scanned her body using a device that could transport her to the headquarters, more like teleporting her.

"We have captured the enemy." I sent the message to the leader.

"Good. Return to the base for now."

"What about their leader?"

"I'll take care of it."

"Bumalik na daw tayo sa base," sabi ko kay Secundus.

"Hmmm, what about Krav?" she asked.

"Siyang na daw ang bahala," I replied.

"Then what about Quartus?" Secundus asked.

"I'm sure parte na 'to ng plano ni Primis

But in the back of my mind, I am still worried that maybe, just maybe, we did fall into their trap. I just hope that this is part of Primis' plan.

I replied as we walked to the aircraft. Fortunately, these aircraft have an autopilot or else we might have crashed it already kung isa sa amin ang mag-papatakbo nito. The only ones who can fly an aircraft in our group are Quartus and Primis.

When we arrived at our headquarters the spy was still unconscious in the cell.
